Rey Mysterio Nears WWE Return Following Injury

Rey Mysterio, one of WWE’s most beloved superstars and a Hall of Famer, is reportedly close to making his return to in-ring action. After months of recovery from a torn groin and a ruptured eardrum that required surgery, Mysterio’s rehabilitation has gone better than expected, and he’s nearly cleared for a comeback.

Though sidelined from wrestling, Mysterio has remained active in appearances at AAA events, including Worlds Collide, where he emotionally tied the AAA Mega Championship belt around his son Dominik Mysterio’s waist after Dominik’s victory over El Hijo del Vikingo.

With WWE gearing up for major events like Survivor Series, fans are speculating that Mysterio could soon reappear on television — potentially reigniting his on-screen rivalry with his son. His return would not only bring excitement back to the SmackDown roster but also mark another powerful chapter in the Mysterio family’s wrestling legacy.

WWE's Rey Mysterio Suspended Due to Drug Test Failure

WWE's resident luchador Rey Mysterio was suspended back on April 26th for failing the WWE Wellness Policy. Since the announcement, it has been published that Mysterio was suspended for testing positive for amphetamines. After the evaluation came back positive, WWE reviewed Mysterio's prescription drugs to ensure he was not unknowingly ingesting amphetamines. It is now the current opinion that a dietary supplement meant to assist in losing weight may have been the culprit. Regardless, Rey Mysterio will not be eligible to return to the WWE until June 25th.

As a lifelong professional wrestling fan, it is always bothersome to see one of your cherished wrestlers put in unfortunate circumstances. This WWE Wellness Policy violation is the second infraction for Mysterio, and one more will be basis for termination.

In 1996, I was introduced to a young high-flying luchador named Rey Mysterio Jr. As part of the WCW cruiserweight roster, the besprinkled Mysterio demonstrated a whole new style of cruiserweight action. I was used to seeing some fancy moves by guys like Jerry Lynn and Sean Waltman. And although Waltman and Lynn were awesome athletes, Rey Mysterio's high risk style blew the two of them out of the water. Mysterio, along with guys like Dean Malenko and Eddie Guerrero, revolutionized the North America cruiserweight scene. As part of WCW, they helped in the war against World Wrestling Entertainment. In fact, many enthusiasts acknowledge that it was big stars like Hulk Hogan and Sting that got them to watch WCW, but it was Rey Mysterio and the others who got them to stay.

Rey Mysterio's success soared when he was signed by WWE in 2002. Although my wrestling tastes had altered, I always found Mysterio to be an unobjectionable superstar. And so did millions of other fans. Through the WWE, Mysterio rose out of the cruiserweight division and eventually captured the WWE Heavyweight Championship. During his WWE career, Mysterio's body has slowly changed. In comparison to his last WCW run, you can see a noticeable difference in his weight and muscle mass. He is much larger than the luchador he was in 1996.

I hope Rey Mysterio can pick himself up from this latest violation. Although older and slightly slower, Mysterio is one of the foremost draws for WWE. His comic book character outfits and luchador maneuvers are still a much anticipated showcase at WWE live events. Fans worldwide hope to see Mysterio return without issue on June 25th.

As some of you might already be aware of, it was reported yesterday that Rey Mysterio and Dolph Ziggler are dealing with injuries they sustained at a Raw house show in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Friday with Mysterio having possibly re-injured his knee and Ziggler sustaining an abdominal muscle tear.

According to WrestlingInc.com, the two are still working on despite their injuries as they worked at another house show on Saturday in Fresno, California. Here is what the site covered with the two at the event:

"Mysterio participated in an injury angle at last night's RAW live event in Fresno, California, as he was attacked by Alberto Del Rio and R-Truth prior to his match with the second generation Mexican wrestler.


Del Rio put the cross arm-breaker on Mysterio, and was subsequently assisted to the back by personnel. Meanwhile, Ziggler worked lightly during his match against Alex Riley as there was much stalling."

This could spill bad news for the WWE in the next week leading to Summerslam, as there was a match being seemingly set up for the PPV with Ziggler being in a feud with Alex Riley over the US Title, which was teased during an angle on Raw last week. It would especially be a problem if they planned to set up anything with Rey for a match as well.

I would assume the WWE will be having Rey and Ziggler rest up as best they can in the week leading up to Summerslam, and I wish the two luck in trying to work off the injuries they sustained.

Rey Mysterio Talks About the WWE Championship, The Miz & Comic-Con

WWE had an eventful first day at this year’s Comic-Con International. During their panel, WWE Champion CM Punk made a surprise appearance during the Mattel panel where the new head of the WWE, whom CM Punk referred to as a doofus during his already infamous shoot promo on Vince McMahon four weeks ago on Raw, was discussing the latest WWE toy line.

On the show floor, fans were treated to WWE Hall of Famer and legend, the Hitman Bret Hart and San Diego’s own Rey Mysterio doing an autograph signing at the Mattel booth. It has been a busy past week for Rey as on Monday night he defeated two men in order to advance in a championship tournament for the WWE Championship which Vince McMahon said he did not recognize CM Punk as champion as he was no longer a part of the company.

This upcoming Monday, the 619’s own biggest little man plans to take on the Real World alumni turned professional wrestler, the Miz. Both Rey and Miz have held a number of titles in WWE, including world championships, so the match looks to be something fans can really get behind on Monday night.

During our interview, Rey also mentions to us that this is actually his first ever Comic Con despite being a San Diego resident and how he has brought his kids to the show with him.

Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes (Falls Count Anywhere Match)

Winning at The Grandest Stage of Them All, Wrestlemania 27 (watch) was not enough for Cody Rhodes. Cody said that he will do to Rey Mysterio the same thing what Rey did to him.

Edge say's good bye to the WWE Universe forever

No wonder the whole WWE Universe was in shock when the 11-times World Champion announced his retirement on Raw April 11, 2011 (watch). The Rated-R-Superstar Edge told the WWE Universe that, due to his injury, he can no longer wrestle in the ring and he will retire from the competition.

After more than 13 years of wrestling The Ultimate Opportunist who retained his World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 27 (watch) against Alberto Del Rio announced his retirement, his legion so called Edge Heads cried when he offered them an emotional farewell on Raw.

WWE released a video of John Cena expressing his feelings about Edge on their official YouTube channel.

Edge later came out on SmackDown! (watch) after Christian won a no.1 contender match and addressed the WWE Universe that he no longer be their World Champion and surrender his World Heavyweight Championship title.





Edge's mother was also presented along the ring side the entire WWE Universe stood up and Edge thanked his Edge Heads, hugged his mother and the entire SmackDown locker room showed up to pay tribute to Edge. Christian, Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero, Big Show and Triple H came to the ring and hugged Edge.

The WWE Universe chanted 'Thank You, Edge'.

The rumors is up that Rey Mysterio asked WWE to release his contract after Wrestlemania 27. Later Rey Mysterio tweeted on his Twitter account saying that "Confirming!Did not ask 4 release! those that like me, u will have Rey 4 a good time&those that don't, well life isn't always sweet,619 out!"

Former WCW star Konnan told in an interview that SmackDown! star Rey is bothered about the singing of new Mexican wrestler Sin Cara. He even said that Rey is not a jealous type person.

It is even possible that WWE would keep Rey and Cara on separate brand. Sin Cara already made his appearance on WWE live show on Raw by defeating WWE Superstars Primo.

Meanwhile, Alberto Del Rio said in an interview on latino.foxnews.com “I’m just happy this company uses so many Latino talent,” Del Rio said. “There is so much talent out there, from Puerto Rico to Mexico, just to name a few. I hope it continues like that. Because of that, I am here and getting all these opportunities.”
