Royal Rumble entrants, Baron Corbin push, Batista, more!

  • There are expected to be multiple additions to the Royal Rumble match made official on Raw tonight.
  • Baron Corbin is in line for a big push here sooner rather than later.
  • Batista had an appearance at Wizard World in New Orleans booked through WWE, according to PW Insider, but it is not expected to lead to a return anytime soon.
  • John Cena's Instagram post on Kenny Omega wasn't indicative of anything and it's not expected he'll be coming to WWE.
  • WWE has gone back to giving new names to wrestlers, even if said wrestlers are well known on the independent scene under a different name.

WWE Debate: Of CM Punk, Stone Cold, Rock, Batista and the IWC's Hypocrisy

I write this with the expectation of receiving buckets of hate. In this day and age, fans have many demands that mean little once quenched, for more are born within the same period. It's an ever-expanding, ever-evolving wish list, one that leaves no one truly satisfied and everyone complaining.

These very fans also dislike being called out on the inconsistency of their demands; their laudatory vision of WWE, while extremely unstable and unlikely, is perceived the most idealistic one.

CM Punk set the WWE Universe alight with his highly controversial departure back in January, when he left the company as quietly as he could. Rumours, including this one from Power Slam Magazine (via Christopher Olmstead of Wrestling News Depot), whizzed through the buzzing dirt sheets claiming Punk's exhaustion and annoyance with his booking status as the primary reasons for his abrupt exit.

Others disregarded it all as a work, for Punk is not new to these scandals. They started preparing a rousing ovation for a Raw in Chicago when he would undoubtedly return to his city for the build to WrestleMania. When he failed to show, hope for a WrestleMania 30 return surfaced, followed by a final, desperate, halfhearted plea for him to show up at the Payback pay-per-view in Chicago.

But CM Punk, as pulsating, built-up frustration in many fans would tell you, never came back.

The moment the harsh reality started to settle in and the glimmer of hope began to fade, hatred began to flow from all corners. The preachers of morality within the Internet Wrestling Community started their sermons of contractual obligations and repaying the fans' support. The ones blinded by rage began questioning Punk's relevance in the WWE, his wrestling skills, promo skills and the man himself.

He is still backed by a loyal cult of fans who can relate to his departure and understand what the guy went through. These fans, much like John Cena fans, have been shunned and forced into a despicable club, for they stand for a wrestler whom a large segment legitimately hates.

All I ask for in the midst of it all is consistency.

Fans still cheer and respect a true WWE icon in Stone Cold Steve Austin, a man notorious for having left the WWE in a similar fashion—disgruntled and frustrated by booking decisions. The financial and sentimental obligations remained and were even larger for Steve Austin because he was a bigger star than CM Punk during a time when WWE enjoyed a larger fanbase.

He chose to leave, yet we cheer him on. This really begs the question: Are our ethics and morals defined by the Superstars we love and hate? Is it OK for Stone Cold to do something because we respect him but not CM Punk because we don't?

In fact, WWE itself reacted much more negatively to Austin's act of "taking his ball and going home," while CM Punk is nowhere close to getting the infamous WWE spite other wrestlers usually get. His absence was positively acknowledged by Paul Heyman—who painted him in a sympathetic light—his DVD was heavily marketed and apart from a few jabs from The Authority, he hasn't received much negativity from a company he left stranded.

Why, then, do we feel an urge to blame the individual when we clearly don't blame other such acts of betrayal? Will we take him back in loving arms like we took Austin if he decides to come back a year later and expresses regret?

It's the same thing that happened with Batista. Fans were quick to criticise a part-time wrestler taking the main event spot fresh from Hollywood—even though The Rock had been doing it for a couple of years already. Yet The Rock was treated as a god and Batista a joke. Once again, our beliefs were only defined by the wrestlers' personalities and not actual morals and ethics.

I say this as a massive Stone Cold Steve Austin and CM Punk fan. I do not condemn either for leaving the company, for I can relate with the frustration of being a part of something you don't enjoy anymore. I cheer for both, for I genuinely wish for these exceptional performers to be back onscreen. Because in the end, this is entertainment, and that's all I really care about.

Thanks for the read.

Batista Quits WWE on Monday Night Raw

After quite a rocky return tour and a losing streak with a revived Evolution, Batista has quit WWE.

One night after Evolution was badly beaten at the hands of The Shield at Payback—marking the legendary group's second consecutive pay-per-view loss at the hands of the Hounds of Justice—Batista kicked off the June 2 edition of Raw by walking out.

Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista hit the ring to address the ugly 3-0 loss, with the ringleader and WWE COO wanting another shot. Instead, Batista elected to go the selfish route and demand his promised-upon-return title shot.

Of course, Triple H was in no position to grant the wish—not that he wanted to—since Daniel Bryan remains out of commission due to injury. This promoted Batista's departure, as captured by WWE's Twitter account:

It was the biggest pop The Animal has received from a crowd since his ill-fated Royal Rumble return:

Even fellow (former) superstar Dolph Ziggler got in on the action:

The departure marks the second time Batista has quit the company, although it was certainly not as memorable as his previous wheelchair-laden exit. The Animal, much like The Rock, has his eyes set on Hollywood.

Guardians of the Galaxy, the latest movie he is set to appear in, will be premiering on August 1. He is likely now focusing his time on promoting it.

While Batista promotes his movies, Randy Orton is likely to go back to singles action and Triple H reinserts himself into the Bryan drama. Don't expect Batista back (if at all, given how horribly received his current run has been) until the summer months, which, by then, will once again throw his spot on the card into question. Perhaps SummerSlam, once his movie has already been released?

For now, Bootista has left the building.

WWE Payback 2014: The Shield and Evolution

After overcoming Evolution in a brutal match that had the crowed shouting "This is awesome" at Extreme Rules (Watch). The Shield will now have another chance to stand toe-to-toe with Triple H, Randy Orton & Batista at WWE Payback in a grand rematch.

Since The Shield defeated Evolution they have been put through a lot of disadvantageous situation again and again. On May 5th edition of Raw, then U.S Champion Ambrose lost his title when he was forced by Triple H to defend the title in a 20-Superstar Battle Royal. The match was won by Sheamus, ending Ambrose's 351 days title reigns. Later that night Evolution attacked The Shield win they were in a intense match against The Wyatt Family.

Triple H says that they know what it takes to win a war. Will the King of Kings, The Viper and The Animal defeat The Hounds of Justice and stand tall this time? Or will the Shield beat the Evolution in their own game and scoring another win.

Batista to Take Time Off Following Extreme Rules

After a little over three months of a full WWE schedule, Batista is set to take some time off.

According to PWInsider (via WrestlingInc.com), The Animal won’t be appearing at WWE house shows for an undisclosed period of time, though he’ll largely still be active on Raw:
"Batista is apparently taking some time off after WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view as he is not currently being advertised for any WWE events after that show, including Raw the next night from Albany, NY. He is also not advertised for the big European tour that kicks off in May."
With part-time megastars like Brock Lesnar and Triple H returning to the ring a few times a year to occupy coveted top spots, it’s likely that this will incite the ire of many hardcore fans.

It’s not all that surprising, though, as the 45-year-old star has a major Marvel film to promote.

"It was reported back when Batista signed with WWE that he was expected to take some time off to do promotional work for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but that movie doesn’t open until August 1," the report indicated.

Whatever the case, he won’t be missing many Raw tapings, so the damage isn’t as bad as it could be.

Batista made his in-ring return to the company at the Royal Rumble and immediately found himself intensely booed by crowds around the country.

But while his first few matches with Alberto Del Rio were a little sketchy thanks to The Animal’s ring shape, things have since turned around considerably for the veteran.

He’s wrestled in some solid matches, including his recent SmackDown brawl with Sheamus and the fantastic WrestleMania XXX main event, where he played his part perfectly.

But perhaps most importantly, WWE cleverly gave up on his ill-thought-out babyface run and instead has given him a much more suitable role as a heel.

Expect another terrific match out of Batista at Extreme Rules with Evolution against The Shield, even if it’s his last for a while.

WWE Raw 2/24/14: Alberto Del Rio vs. Batista

Before the rematch from Elimination Chamber began, Batista mocked the crowd, scoffing at a "Bootista" sign.

"The Animal" controlled the match early, but Alberto Del Rio caught him coming back into the ring. He soon swept Batista out from under his feet and then hurled him into the ring steps.

They traded right hands before Del Rio kicked Batista in the gut. A powerslam from Batista shifted the advantage back his way.

Even with his arm banged up, Batista overpowered Del Rio. He hit a spinebuster right before Randy Orton came out. Distracted, he fell victim to a schoolboy pin, losing to Del Rio.

Orton mocked him, noting that the fans haven't responded well to his return.

Boos echoing around him, Batista shouted that he loved the business and promised to beat Orton at WrestleMania.

WWE seems to be testing a Batista heel turn out rather than just going with it. He exhibited the kind of aggression and bad attitude one associates with villains, but does that make Orton the face, or will this picture make more sense with Bryan's addition?

The company gets points for acknowledging fans booing Batista.

On the negative side, Batista doesn't look ready for a marquee match. His bout against Del Rio was awkward, and for such a short contest, it featured a lot of lying on the mat to catch his breath.

Orton and Batista's segment lacked tension. The first steps in the journey to their WrestleMania weren't impressive in the least.

WWE Raw Results 2/17/14 Randy Orton and Batista Backstage Segment

Orton chatted with Triple H backstage. He talked trash about Batista, saying that they both carried him in Evolution.

Batista, of course, was right behind him. He insulted Orton, causing "The Viper" to slink away. Alberto Del Rio, donning a neckbrace, rushed in to issue a few threats.

"The Animal" pushed his Elimination Chamber foe into a forklift and walked off.

Memorable Moments and Quotes:
"You're not the face of the WWE; you're the ass"—Batista to Orton.

"I hope you don't plan to use your arms for your WrestleMania match because I'm going to break them"—Del Rio to Batista.

WATCH: WWE Raw 2/17/14 (Full Episode)

Daniel Bryan fans aren't going to want to hear the foreshadowing that WWE laid out here, hinting at Orton vs. Batista at WrestleMania.

This was more about Batista's more immediate opponent. Del Rio got a chance to threaten Batista, but he ended up looking like he's out of his league against Batista.

Their match is looking more and more like a glorified squash match. Don't count on Del Rio putting much of a fight as WWE looks to make Batista look unstoppable before WrestleMania.

Batista's WWE Return Was Bad Timing for Daniel Bryan

Batista was the winner of WWE's Royal Rumble pay-per-view on Sunday, January 26.

The Animal had returned to the company just one week earlier and was one of 30 men competing for the opportunity to headline WrestleMania 30. That opportunity included a match for the WWE World Championship, currently held by Randy Orton.

And while Batista's fans were surely glad to see him not only return but also win at the Rumble, there was one guy that probably could have done without it.

That guy is Daniel Bryan, who is an unfortunate victim of bad timing.

On any other day, in any other kind of scenario, Batista would likely have been welcomed back with open arms.  After all, he was one of the most popular Superstars that WWE had during his time there and had become a guy that Vince McMahon had trusted with the World Championship.

Batista's evolution from the group of the same name took place for all of the fans to see.

After his popularity as part of Triple H's next level faction began to grow, so too did his character.  Eventually, Batista was seen as more of a singles Superstar, as someone that fans believed should be on his own.

The Animal's feud with his former mentor made him look better than he ever had before.

The Game played the role of the champion that was running scared, afraid of the man that he had brought into Evolution.  Triple H's part of the rivalry was played to perfection, and by the time their World title match happened at WrestleMania 21, WWE fans wanted nothing more than to see their new favorite, Batista, emerge with the big gold belt.

And that is exactly what they got; Batista left with the championship and an exciting new direction for his career.

Batista became a top Superstar after that, a man that the company apparently believed in to hold his own and carry the load of being a WWE main event player.

Over the next three years, Batista was a Superstar routinely seen in high profile matches on TV and pay-per-view.  There was no doubt about it; The Animal's WWE career had reached new heights.

So when the announcement was made that he would be returning to WWE, fans were likely more than ready to see him come back.  But when it became obvious he would be pursing Randy Orton and the aforementioned WWE World Championship, that opinion perhaps changed pretty quickly.

The reason for that is, of course, Daniel Bryan.

The WWE faithful had been watching him and supporting him since the night after SummerSlam in 2013 when Triple H had decided to use The Authority against him.

Thanks to a Pedigree delivered by Triple H, Randy Orton was crowned the new WWE champion as well as the new face of the company.  He became Hunter's go-to guy, the man that stood head and shoulders above everyone else in terms of stature and corporate approval.

Essentially, Randy morphed into Triple H's old role as the dominant World Champion, while The Game assumed the part of Vince McMahon.

And much like Vince, Hunter believed in company first and company last.  Everything he did was done to not only show off his WWE champion but also to supposedly preserve the integrity of WWE's main event level.

And Daniel Bryan evidently did not fit into that main event equation.

WWE fans sat back and watched as all summer long, Bryan kept fighting against The Authority as well as The Shield.

The goat-faced underdog just would not give up. He kept pushing and pushing to attain the industry's top prize, and he would not stop despite how bad the deck was stacked against him.

This did nothing but build his character and his reputation in the company.  It also made him the hottest commodity WWE has seen since CM Punk and the pipe-bomb of 2011.

Fans wanted Daniel to defeat Randy.

They wanted to see him overcome The Authority and take his place as the new WWE champion.  They believed in him and respected him as a talent. Daniel had the full support of the audience, and all he needed was the title belt to go along with it.

But of course that never happened.

Daniel ultimately lost the feud with Orton and then found himself back at mid-card level, this time as a member of Bray Wyatt's family.  Even though Bray is a very charismatic Superstar with his whole career ahead of him, the truth is that putting him next to Daniel did not put Daniel any closer to Orton.

However, when Daniel left The Wyatt Family a few weeks ago, everything changed.

Now, Daniel Bryan is once again seen as the sentimental favorite to become WWE world champion. Some believe that his slight downturn was just temporary and that he should now finally be elevated back to the title.  They feel that he deserves it, that he's earned it. And they may very well be right.

But the fact is that Batista's return has thrown a huge obstacle into Daniel Bryan's path to the top. Again, if Batista's timing had been better then perhaps it would not have adversely affected Daniel the way it has.

As it stands right now, Batista will be headlining WrestleMania 30 against Randy Orton for the WWE World Championship.

This one has the potential to draw not only fan interest but money, and it's understandable why the company would want to go with that match.

But Daniel is not in the mix, and unless WWE changes things up, he could be once again passed up for the title.

Even if WWE were to pull a surprise at the Elimination Chamber event in February and actually book Daniel to win the belt, the truth is that Batista is likely not going away anytime soon.

Would Bryan's supporters be satisfied with a championship win in February only to see it end at Batista's hands in April at WrestleMania?

The fact is that while Batista has been gone from WWE pursuing his acting career, Daniel has been working hard week in and week out.

He has entertained on a very high level and has done everything it takes to be a top star in the company.  He is the man that fans want; he is the one that they cheer for even when he's not in the ring.

But instead of rising up to claim his spot at the top of WWE, Daniel has been somewhat knocked back down the ladder.  And now Batista has been given the opportunity that could have belonged to Bryan.

Timing is everything in WWE, and in the case of Batista's return, it's more bad than good for Daniel Bryan.

Batista Argued With The Fans After WWE Royal Rumble and Mocks Daniel Bryan

After wining Royal Rumble, Batista argued with the fans while he was on his way to the entrance ramp. Many WWE Authorities and Superstars were not happy about it. After the show ended fans were not happy about it as Batista went on in a verbal battle with a fan, all this was been seen on the big entrance screen as Batista said to the fan "I"ll snap you in half". The fans continued to boo him but Batista chanted Daniel Bryan's YES! chant, instead of using the pointer finger he used his middle finger to the crowed.

Backstage Heat On Batista Already? Details Behind Batista’s Tweet That Might Have a Feud With Del Rio

The verbal exchanges between Alberto Del Rio and Batista might have gone too far. PWInsider is reporting that there is some backstage heat on Batista after a tweet he posted. The tweet has since been deleted.

Del Rio cut a promo on Raw Monday saying he was tired of all the attention Batista was getting and vowed to eliminate him from the Rumble. This prompted Batista to respond on Twitter with the following:

Later, Del Rio posted a tweet taking a shot at Batista's MMA debut against Vince Lucero, a last-minute replacement fighter for Batista's original opponent.

Batista's next response is what PWInsider is reporting caused some heat backstage:

Batista tweeted: "Seems 2 me that some C level stars in a B level star era have bought into their own hype. Don't turn a work into a shoot. #realitycheck"

Again, that tweet has since been deleted. Word is that it's been a hot topic among WWE wrestlers this week. The general feeling is that Batista buried the entire locker room with that one tweet.

This situation is being compared to the time Triple H said The Undertaker was the only person in the WWE locker room that was worth of wrestling against him.

The report goes on to suggest that Batista's return had already ruffled a few feathers, simply due to him walking into a WrestleMania main event. His tweet simply exaggerated those feelings by some.

Batista is scheduled to return on the January 20th edition of WWE Raw and has already been announced for the Royal Rumble.

Batista Rumored to Return WWE Soon In 2013

WWE Raw had a feeling of a hard reset.  Sure, John Cena opened the show as WWE champion—a familiar scene—and was greeted with chants of "same old s---t."

But the show ended with Ryback standing tall over Cena.  And somewhere in between, Dolph Ziggler captured his first legitimate world championship after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract.

The Rock's WWE future is still marred in ambiguity, and Triple H appeared to have been written out of WWE storylines with an injury.  Brock Lesnar will be in and out, and when he returns the WWE will probably pencil him in for another expensive loss.

It seems the part-timers are to be paving the way for the WWE to build new stars from the ground up.

Then this tasty rumor broke.  Former top star Dave Batista appears to be angling for a WWE return.

And why not?  If there truly is more to the Rock's sudden exit to the WWE than meets the eye, the WWE would suddenly be without a reliable big name who can help it laugh its way to the bank.  Say goodbye to another WrestleMania sure to do over one million buys.

Ryback might be the long-term answer as the WWE has done their best to protect him.  He started off hot with a six-month win streak, and his losses are rarely clean.

Dolph Ziggler can work, but if his job were to transcend professional wrestling, he'd be fired.  He doesn't have the larger-than-life personality or the mass appeal to be the face of the WWE.  If the WWE truly is in the quasi-era of Dolph Ziggler, it's going to need some legitimate part-timers to bolster any adverse effect on business.

The WWE went to the part-time cookie jar around WrestleMania XXVII with the return of The Rock.  They haven't stopped gobbling them down since.  Since 2011, Brock Lesnar, Triple H, The Undertaker and Chris Jericho have all settled comfortably into their roles as temporary talents.

With no new stars created since John Cena made it big around WrestleMania XX, it appears the WWE is content with cycling in stars from the past while testing the waters with homegrown talent during times when business is slower.

The formula seems to have been sufficient in terms of WrestleMania's business.  But in non-WrestleMania quarters, the WWE's current business model suggests that maybe an emphasis on full-time stars would be more viable long-term.

For now, however, wrestling fans can enjoy the anticipatory periods of another potential return.  Batista, as a heel or babyface, will have plenty of wrestlers to work with.  Mortgaged future aside, another brief run from a big name couldn't hurt.  Could it?

Former WWE Star Dave 'Batista' Bautista Embarrasses Himself, Sport in MMA Debut

When Brock Lesnar made his MMA debut, the entire sport was abuzz. Lesnar annihilated Olympic judo silver medalist Kim Min-Soo, and though he fell short against Frank Mir in his first UFC bout, his speed, strength and wrestling pedigree had pundits predicting a title run for the raw wrestler.

Suffice to say, no one is talking about Lesnar's pro wrestling pal Dave "Batista" Bautista's potential after his first MMA bout against journeyman Vince Lucero at CES MMA "Real Pain" at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. While Lesnar started his UFC career with a former champion, Batista took on an opponent who looked like his only championship glory came in a hot dog eating contest.

The overweight Lucero ran wild on Batista, Hulkamania style, styling and profiling like an obese Ric Flair. He cracked Bautista with a hard punch and clowned for the crowd as he pushed the former WWE champion up against the cage in the clinch.

Eventually, Bautista managed to get the bout to the mat. He controlled the action but never really established a rear mount—it appeared he couldn't successfully wrap his legs all the way around Lucero's ample midsection.

Bautista started to work his punches, and with Lucero complaining of punches to the back of the head, thankfully, finally, the referee called a TKO stop to the bout, proclaiming the WWE star the winner of a fight that can be charitably described as awful. It could have only gone worse if Dave had somehow managed to lose. He had the courage to fight and pulled out a win. For that, my hat is off to him.

Batista, however, wasn't quite done. He kept after Lucero, talking trash and taunting his fallen foe. No one is quite sure what happened between the two men.

Guest interviewer Joe Lauzon did little to shed light on the situation. When he got an opportunity to talk with Bautista after the fight, he asked him generic questions about his nerves and whether he would fight again. The mystery post-fight scuffling, alas, remains a mystery, a terrible end to a rough night of fights.

For the 43-year-old Bautista, it was much ado about nothing. He has teased an MMA appearance for years, training with Cesar Gracie and Stephan Bonnar among others, attempting to convince the sports world that his swollen muscles would translate from the world of pro wrestling into a successful career of face punching.

When negotiations with Strikeforce fell through after the promotion was purchased by Zuffa (the UFC parent company), it was a dream that seemed dead. After watching his debut, we would have been better off if that had indeed been the case.

Bautista didn't come out to his trademark WWE theme music. He didn't wear the snazzy white suit that defined his days as part of the Evolution gang alongside legends like Triple H and Flair. He didn't use a single powerbomb or even give his opponent two thumbs down.

All that reminded us that this was "Batista" was his ridiculous musculature. That, and that alone, isn't going to be enough. His post-fight interview was a bore. His actual fight was abysmal. Though he pledged to fight again, I wonder how many will make the journey with him a second time?

This was Dave Bautista's chance to reinvent himself. Here's hoping he still has Vince McMahon's number somewhere, because UFC president Dana White isn't likely to be calling anytime soon.

Dave Batista MMA Debut (Batista vs Vince lucero) - Full Fight

Not a very impressive performance by Batista, i realize he was very nervous but aren't everyone nervous when they step into the octagon? He didn't display very good standup, except that he can take some heavy punches. Pretty good Jiu Jitsu maybe, very easy takedown.

I like Batista, more than likely debut nerves got the best of him with letting his hands down, but considering he has only been training MMA as of recent, I'm happy for him that he won.. Good job.

Bautista's 1ST MMA Opponent Replaced, Arrested Week Before Fight

Bautista's truly first master MMA battle was practically scrapped this week when his rival was captured for a probation violation ... be that as it may TMZ has studied arrangers have dug up a swap contender unequivocally at the last possible second.

The battle has been in the works for months ... the ex-WWE champ was slated to get in the ring with Rashid Evans (not the one from the UFC) at a CES MMA occasion in Fortune, Rhode Island.

In any case a rep for the occasion tells us ... Evans was scratched from the battle card when he was captured for violating his probation some time the previous week ... and then afresh, it appeared to be destiny was determined to avoid Bautista's MMA job from steadily moving toward getting started.

Occasion coordinators mixed to identify a shift warrior--a fella named Vince Lucero walked up ... which would be able to be a HUUUUGE situation for Bautista being as how Lucero has been in above and beyond 40 genius battle.

Indeed, Lucero has run toe-to-toe with a pack of genuine MMA studs ... incorporating past UFC Heavyweight champ Tim (Sylvia won that battle).

The fight is still booked to go down Saturday at 8pm ET.

Batista talks about possible return to WWE 2012

Former WWE star Dave Bautista says he doesn’t see MMA as a long-term career move, saying on Spike TV’s “MMA Uncensored Live” that he wants to be able to say he competed in a real fight setting. Asked if he plans to return to pro wrestling, Bautista said he definitely sees himself returning to WWE. Bautista said he left WWE on good terms and is just waiting for the “PG stuff to blow over.”

Asked who he would like to work with if he returns to WWE, Bautista named Triple H, Brock Lesnar, and The Undertaker. Bautista noted he never had the chance to work a long-term program with Lesnar while in WWE. Asked if he would take an MMA fight against Lesnar, Bautista said “of course” he would, saying he is open to any big fights in MMA.

Brock Lesnar becomes the new Batista

In a special three-hour edition of "Monday Night Raw," we learned that Brock Lesnar is just like everyone else, and that three hours of show is one hour too many.

There were two big segments during the show. First, CM Punk proved that he can't recite the alphabet backward, sober or not. Long story short, Punk was tricking Chris Jericho into believing he was drunk, and when he finally revealed his gambit by saying the alphabet backward "properly," he still messed it up! Ah, the perils of live TV.

But the show built to the contract signing between Lesnar and John Cena. Before he signed, however, Lesnar had some contract demands: He wanted to use Vince McMahon's private jet. He wanted more money. He wanted the show renamed "Monday Night Raw starring Brock Lesnar." And then he said the only thing that makes him happy is beating people up. Really? Why do you need all the other perks then?

It seems to me that the WWE's creative team is still trying to figure out exactly which direction to take Lesnar. Should he be a butt-kicking machine? Should he be a self-centered example of the modern athlete? And it's understandable. The creative team at WWE has to write five hours of television, plus most of the WWE's Internet shows, such as "NXT," every week. And don't forget, there is no repeat season for WWE. Every week is a new show.

But WWE is in danger of turning Lesnar from something special into just another guy. Don't give the guy a live microphone, because promos aren't his strong suit and make him look normal. Don't position him as just another guy in the locker room who wants his share of the pie. Brock Lesnar should be all about destruction. He should come to the ring, destroy, and then leave.

Monday night, he was just this year's Batista. Remember Batista, who in his final year played the gimmick of the guy who wanted the spotlight? Wanted the money? Wanted the jet? Don't turn Brock Lesnar into that. After all, WWE fans haven't exactly been clamoring for Batista's return since he left a couple of years ago. And I'm afraid if there are more segments like Monday's show closer, no one will be clamoring to see Brock Lesnar appear on their TV screen.

Batista Criticises Daniel Bryan's Title Win

Generally, open preceding WWE star Dave Batista has been letting detached and giving his legit supposition on clearly all things wrestling identified. We're beginning to think Batista quite does have no expectation whatsoever of regularly coming back to his previous superintendent, since he has been unconditionally searing about certain viewpoints of up to date WWE.

Has this man ever become aware of strategy? Going by some of his interviews/blog presents just, the response is without a doubt no.

Crisp of tearing on fundamental-occasion star The Miz over his ineffectualness to put on a show of being a "strong chap" and the stale state of the present WWE item in a meeting with daily paper The Daily Star, the previous World Heavyweight Champion took to his official Twitter record the previous evening to sound off about Daniel Bryan's World Title triumph at WWE's TLC pay-for every-view.

In the most huge instant of last night's indicate, Bryan successfully traded in for cold hard currency his Money in the Bank contract by making the most of a laid-out Big Show. Indicate had won the cinch from Mark Henry and was then the victim of a frightful and weakening post-match beatdown from the maddened previous champ, leaving the monster astoundingly powerless to an artful Bryan.

So what was Batista's response to previous ROH star's win? Well, he emphatically implied to his devotees that he was less than excited about the brainstorm: "reason me! did i catch that right? Daniel Bryan World Heavyweight Champ. ummmmmmm.....ok."

Unsurprisingly, fans were not blissful about Dave's comments, and let him know it via some particularly negative Twitter presents. A disturbed Batista then composed the emulating castigation, asserting he didn't aversion Bryan the same amount as folks thought and was cheerful for him, but showing he still had issues with Bryan winning the World Heavyweight Championship.

Batista, who was much of the time criticised for his absence of specialized wrestling abilities when he was fundamental eventing in WWE, additionally lashed out in opposition to individuals who were underestimating him and asserting he had no power to speak out in opposition to Bryan's triumph at the occasion:

so to clear up any misunderstanding about me hating on Daniel Bryan...actually i've been a supporter of his for years, unlike most of you Johnny come lately smart mark supporters. we actually had a hell of a match together that was originally supposed to be a squash match until this old broken down ex bodybuilder who never deserved to be champion and only had it handed to me because HHH was my boy...refused to job the kid out because i knew how good he was and wanted to have a ******* match with him before i left the company. and a hell of a match we had considering where our respective places in the company were at the time. so yes im aware of all of his accomplishments and hard work through out the years and i'm thrilled to death for him....but still...World Heavyweight champ???ummmmmmm...ok. opinions are like ********. my Twitter account,my opinion. and to all the bitch ass haters who just dogged me out and bitched about how horrible i was.....i've worked with HHH, the Undertaker,Rey Mysterio,Randy Orton Stone Cold,Edge,John Cena,Chris Benoit,Ric ******** Flair!!etc.etc.. and they all respected me and my work. Eddie Guerrero respected my work. so don't expect your little ********* remarks to actually carry any weight. in your bitch ass faces!!

While Batista is absolutely qualified for his assumption (and his objections concerning the stagnant state of the present WWE item are ordinarily all in all spot on), the mid life, granddad of a few might would like to handle input in opposition to him in some way different than a vulgarity-laden rage on his Twitter.

TNA Renews Interest in Former WWE Star Dave Batista

In this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that there have over again been idea exchanges within TNA about getting past WWE essential eventer, Dave "Batista" Bautista.

"Nothing has transpired but there is interest in making another run at Dave Bautista. They made a run at him before given that Ric Flair and Bautista are close, but the first time they were far apart on money and in the past Bautista has said that if he wasn’t interested in going with anyone who wasn’t WWE."

Forasmuch as leaving WWE in May of final year, Batista has been following a profession in acting, picking up a handful of roles in a few straight-to-DVD activity pictures, as well as investigating his choices in intermingled combative technique. He was reportedly near a bargain with Strikeforce at one indicate, which after all fell through when the scrambling support was sold to Zuffa Inc.

While a significant number of expected Batista to come back to WWE quickly following he left, the man himself has obviously decided that out for the instant, communicating fabulous dismay with the flow PG unit in changing online journals and talks with, calling it "diluted."

Could he be open to run with the edgier TNA? Who knows? For the right product of coin anything could be conceivable.

Then again, even if TNA did devise a workable plan to meet Batista's unmanageable sticker and accumulate him, the basic concern is: Would he precipitate an improvement?

Well, not to sound too skeptical, but if preceding WWE stars Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Ric Flair, Rob Van Dam, Mr Anderson, Kurt Angle and Hulk Hogan might not turn TNA's hailing business around, it appears unrealistic Batista can either.

This is immaculately the ability to think. TNA's situation has never been seem to be hurting for of stars. Their issues untruth chiefly in the booking and presentation of the item. Batista might pop a rating for his first few manifestations, beyond any doubt, but when that? They could imaginable head off straight back to the same old 1.1 rating they've been stayed on for quite some time. Attempting to obstacle the aids of Batista could most drastically doubt be an exceptionally unreasonable try that could serve as no assistance to the for the most part state of the elevation's business.

Even though with TNA's track record, they might still attempt anyway.

WWE Flashback : Why Dave Batista targeted John Cena

For years, John Cena had been the face of Monday Night Raw, and Dave Batista had been the face of Friday Night SmackDown.

Cena was often the WWE Champion (and still is), while Batista held the World Heavyweight Championship.

They both were dubbed as nice guys who would go to any length to please the WWE Universe.

That is until Batista was cost that World Championship by best friend Rey Mysterio.

A beat-down for the ages ensued of the "Master of the 619," and a much-anticipated heel turn for a man who many believed was boring.

This opened up the proverbial "Pandora's Box" for the WWE, and they didn't disappoint us.

We were finally treated to a dream feud: John Cena versus the reinvented Batista.

Doing Vince's Dirtywork

Recap
Vince McMahon and Bret Hart were in the middle of a feud, revolving around the infamous Montreal Screwjob.

After much back-and-forth on the microphone, Vince told Bret that his father did not deserve to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Bret Hart was sick of it. He kicked the chairman and was about to lock in the sharpshooter.

All of a sudden, Batista attacked Hart from behind and quickly left Bret squirming on the canvas.

Mr. McMahon instructed Batista to hold "The Hitman" so he could spit in his face, which was deja-vu of what had happened nearly twelve years earlier.

Why It Worked
I loved this because it left you intrigued as to why Batista came to the rescue of Vince McMahon.

We really had no back story to go on at the time.

It also intertwined Raw's (eventual) two biggest matches at WrestleMania 26, which is kind of a rarity to be able to do.

Paying Back Personal Debts

Recap
John Cena had just overcome five other men in the grueling Elimination Chamber structure.

He was going to WrestleMania as the WWE Champion!

Happy ending to send the kids home with, right?

Wrong.

You see, Vince McMahon interrupted Cena's celebration to give Batista a WWE Championship match.

After a slap to his face, Batista countered with a spear and a Batista Bomb for the victory.

Why It Worked
Once again, it left you scratching your head, and wondering what the explanation on Raw was going to be.

It also submitted Batista's monster heel status on Raw, as he was a SmackDown face for the majority of his career.

Like Bret Hart, John Cena Is Screwed

Recap
John Cena was angry that he was screwed, so he called out Batista. He got Vincent K. McMahon.

McMahon gave Cena Batista, after explaining that he was simply paying Batista back for his help against Bret Hart.

This match wasn't to be for the WWE title, though. It was to see who would face The Animal at WrestleMania: Sheamus or John Cena.

John Cena won the match after an immediate and intentional low blow got Batista disqualified.

In what would become a common theme, Batista continued his ruthless attack for six minutes after the match, ending Raw standing tall over his defenseless WrestleMania opponent.

Why It Worked
It's a breath of fresh air to have a monster heel not act cowardly.

In this case, that's exactly what happened.

Batista knew he could beat Cena, considering he had previously broken his neck.

So he took the DQ route, continued an ambush and happily accepted Cena as his challenger at WrestleMania.

The Promo of Batista's Career

Recap
Before they met at WrestleMania 26, they had a war of words on the mic.

I would chalk this one up as Batista owning John Cena.

Batista claimed that he should have been the face of the WWE, not Cena. He said that John Cena can't beat him, never had and never will.

Why It Worked
In my humble opinion, this was easily the best promo of Batista's WWE career.

Many true things were said by both men, giving it a realistic feel.

WrestleMania 26 Match

Recap
After a long and epic main event at WrestleMania 26, John Cena overcame the odds—as he always does—to defeat Batista and once again become the WWE Champion.

Not to worry, this feud was far from over.

Why It Worked
This is one of the matches I would tell any John Cena critic to watch.

Both of these guys are not exactly the best technical wrestlers, yet they proved that they can put on a pretty good match together.

As far as the result is concerned, John Cena isn't losing at WrestleMania.

It just isn't good for business (that includes his match against The Rock next year).

So I can't blame the WWE for the decision to have Cena go over.

Batista Invokes Rematch Clause for Extreme Rules, Cena Uses Duct Tape to Win

Recap
Despite what happened at WrestleMania, Batista still didn't believe John Cena could beat him.

With that in mind, he invoked his rematch clause at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view, in a Last Man Standing Match.

Normally, you think of brutality when thinking of such a match as a Last Man Standing, but this match was won by cleverness.

That cleverness was by John Cena, who duct taped Batista's legs to the ring post, enabling him to get back to his feet by the ten count.

Therefore, your winner and still WWE Champion: John Cena.

Why It Worked
Honestly, this may have been the flaw in this feud.

The face shouldn't be using something like duct tape to win a match. That should be the heel.

They could have had Batista win this match and still had him leave on the same night that he did.

I will say, however, that this did help the build to their final match at Over The Limit.

Over the Limit Buildup & Match

Recap
Batista believed John Cena had taken a coward's way out with the duct tape finish at Extreme Rules.

Cena said he was not a coward.

An I Quit match was set for Over The Limit, a match that would be that much more hardcore than the Last Man Standing Match at Extreme Rules.

This would see things like cars used, with the finish not being tainted at all.

This time, Cena had Batista set up for an Attitude Adjustment on top of a car, when Dave waived the match, but Cena still went through with the move and sent The Animal through the stage.

Why It Worked
The build up sold the face as the coward and the heel as the victim, in a way. That was a bit neat, partly because John Cena has never been booked in such a way.

Batista Quits—Again

Recap
Batista was begging for another rematch against John Cena, but the general manager Bret Hart enforced that he must qualify first.

Batista did not like this and said he would quit if Hart didn't allow him his rematch.

Hart denied him and awarded Randy Orton a win by forfeit, and Batista did indeed follow through on his promise to quit.

Why It Worked
The WWE has a way of humiliating talents on their way out the door, and this was no exception.

Considering what he had done for the company, it was pretty sad to see this guy sit in a wheel chair and quit the company.

Then again, it was cool that this story line went full circle, with Bret Hart involved in the start and finish.
