Finally The Shield has reunited, the much eagerly waited fraction of WWE Universe has returned. Roman Reigns has came-back with Raw Tag Team Champions Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins for a war against Braun Strowman, Intercontinental Champion The Miz, Cesaro & Sheamus in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match at WWE TLC.

Reigns was on a different quest for the past few week's but the rumors was up that the fractions will reunite where the fans were destined to see the The Hounds of Justice again. The their was a doubt when Ambrose and Rollins were having a feud with Cesaro & Sheamus and also Reigns were having a mild feud with The Miz.

Cesaro & Sheamus with The Miz teamed up against Reigns and gave him a 3-on-1 beat-down and gave also a Triple Power Bomb mocking The Sheild signature move. Next week, The Shield made an appearance and attacked them and gave a Triple Power Bomb to The Miz.

This match has got even bigger with the Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman coming in to the picture, when The Shield attacked him. The Miz quickly requested the Raw General Manager Kurt Angle and made it a 4-on-3 match.

Real reason why WWE got The Shield back together and their plans for WWE TLC 2017

WWE has got The Shield back as a dominant stable because of the absence of major superstars like John Cena and Brock Lesnar as it is heading to WWE Raw's next pay-per-view WWE TLC.

Heading to the next PPV, WWE needs to draw higher hype for The Shield which is a valuable option for the company. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins had an impressive singles times and also been champions on several events.

It is been stated that The Shield will be a major fraction until Royal Rumble where they will part ways as heading into Wrestlemania. Surly the excitement will be high as we look forward as this favorite stables rises.

The Shield shocked the WWE Universe when the rejoined and raised hell and destroyed Sheamus, The Miz and Cesaro on Raw.

Later, Raw General Manager Kurt Angle quickly made a match when in The Shield will face the team of Sheamus, The Miz and Cesaro in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match at WWE TLC.

WWE Is Slowly Building Towards A Shield Reunion

Ever since Seth Rollins returned from his knee injury this past spring, there have been rumors of a possible Shield reunion. But, with Reigns and Rollins both on Raw, and with Dean Ambrose on SmackDown, it doesn’t seem likely that the trio, which disbanded in the spring of 2014, will reunite anytime soon.

WWE could be planning to shake up the rosters at some point in 2017, because according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, they’re slowly building towards a Shield reunion.

While reviewing the opening Segment from this past Monday’s Raw — which involved Stephanie McMahon, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins — Meltzer said that WWE is planning to do a Shield reunion, because they believe that reuniting the trio will finally force the fans to get behind Reigns, who’s been struggling as a babyface ever since the group broke up.

“The fans were cheering for Roman Reigns when [he was talking about] The Shield powerbombing Braun Strowman through a table, so they kinda found this little way to get people to cheer for Roman. Then Stephanie teased reuniting The Shield for one night, then she said “you people are so gullible,” so I don’t know what the purpose of that was. They’re doing a slow build to a Shield reunion, but don’t [tease it] to get yourself over as a heel.”

WWE could possibly shake up the rosters following WrestleMania 33, so we could end up seeing Dean Ambrose on Raw in the spring of 2017, which will likely lead to a Shield reunion.

Would you like to see The Shield reunite? Do you think a reunion will be the thing that finally gets WWE fans to like Roman Reigns? Let us know in the comments section below, and visit our Facebook page for all the latest news and rumors!

WWE Rumors: WWE Still Planning The Club vs. The Shield For Late 2016

Before The Club & The Shield can share a WWE ring, there are a lot of factors that must come together for the six or more men to even get to that point on WWE television. For starters, there is the question of when or if Finn Balor will be a factor in this feud. We know that Balor is coming to the main roster via the WWE Draft, so how is he going to fit in with The Club?

According to the report, Vince McMahon wants The Club stable to become much stronger before a feud with The Shield, which makes sense. The trio of AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows have a lot of history together, but they need to be built up for the WWE Universe to see their chemistry and dominance.

There is also the possibility of WWE adding more members to The Club, which would complicate matters in a potential feud with The Shield. Finn Balor is one factor, but other names like Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura have also been brought up as potential new members of the group.

Needless to say, WWE is still making decisions about how to book The Club, so a possible feud with The Shield will have to be put off until after the feud with John Cena is over, new members are added, and The Club is the strongest stable in WWE.

The Club is only half the feud. The other half is reforming The Shield, which is no easy feat considering the current state of WWE. The current WWE Champion Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns are a little busy at the moment with a triple threat match at WWE Battleground. The Shield is feuding within itself right now, so it may not be the best time for a reunion tour.

The WWE Draft has the potential to break up The Shield, but there are always ways for WWE to get all three men on Raw or SmackDown together. If they are, Ambrose is the top face in the company. The WWE Universe is begging for Rollins to embrace a face turn, and Reigns is still technically a good guy despite his dynamic with the WWE fans.

The point is a Shield reunion would get all three men on the same page if The Club were getting too strong and The Hounds of Justice had to reset the established order of WWE. It’s complex how a feud would begin between the two stables, but WWE hasn’t given up on the potential rivalry of these two great trios.

Originally, it was rumored that The Club vs. The Shield would take place at WWE Battleground. That rumor was kaput some time ago and is clearly not happening in two weeks. However, Survivor Series isn’t that much of a stretch if WWE officials and Vince McMahon are serious about this feud. There is no doubt that we’ll see The Club vs. The Shield someday, the question is when WWE will pull the trigger and give us the feud of a lifetime.

WWE Considering Shield Reunion in 2015?

There is encouraging news for fans who feel upset over The Shield's disbandment—one recent report mentions that WWE writers are already talking about getting the group back together at some point.
The Shield—Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns—split in June following Rollins' shocking heel turn and alignment with The Authority.

Ambrose and Rollins are currently engaged in a bitter feud, and Reigns has moved on to the main event scene and a potential program with Triple H.

While all three men seem on the verge of sterling solo careers and will likely be OK in the long run, you can't help but have a nagging feeling they may have been better off as a team.

Personally, I think the company should have given them a far longer run as a babyface group—they were massively over with the crowd in their past few months and appeared to have the potential to be something very special. They could have been the “cooler” babyface alternative to guys like John Cena and Daniel Bryan.

And just think of how much they could have sold in terms of merchandise.

Not to mention, their matches were usually terrific—Raw and SmackDown are really missing something in terms of in-ring quality since the split.

Interestingly, in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required) Dave Meltzer writes that people in WWE are already considering a potential reunion in 2015 and 2016.

While this is really just obvious, but it’s notable they are already talking about it, there are tentative ideas to do a Shield reunion in late 2015 or 2016, where they would be kept apart but be brought together for a short period of time, and maybe do it every few years, with the guide behind the last few DX reunions.

Hmm. You have to wonder: Is WWE beginning to regret its decision to split the trio so quickly?

Analyzing John Cena's Potential Impact on Fan Perception of The Shield

The bible didn't mention John Cena teaming with The Shield as one of the signs of apocalypse, but some fans will be expecting locusts and a rider on a pale horse to follow now that this partnership occurred.

For a passionate, opinionated slice of the WWE fanbase, this association continuing would dilute The Shield's cool factor and bring down enthusiasm for the group. Two of the Internet Wrestling Community's favorite sons co-existing with the symbol of the status quo is a hard-to-stomach sight for diehard fans.

It's not just that a pair of former rivals worked together; it's that two entities that represent two vastly different things worked together. The juxtaposition creates a conflict in fandom.

Many fans won't take issue with their alliance, be it short term or long term. Others, though, will bemoan it, just as they did as WWE introduced it last week.

On the June 9 edition of Raw, Cena joined forces with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose in a six-man tag match against The Wyatt Family.

The announcers mentioned the strangeness of the pairing but didn't make a huge deal about it. After all, heels-turned-babyfaces regularly find partners in the form of old enemies.

Members of the IWC saw things differently. @RobbytheBrain, for one, was clearly not happy.
@Mrgtbg envisioned poor sleep ahead should this partnership continue.
The Fans Podcast delivered a dramatic response, which at the time of this writing had been retweeted 81 times.
It did feel odd for a unit that had been so close-knit and unified to take on a new member, especially one who had been its rival for so long. It was The Shield's enemies who were taking on new teammates. "The Hounds of Justice" remained the same each time.

With Seth Rollins gone, The Shield turned to an old enemy but one who had animosity with The Wyatt Family in common.

As logical a move as it was in terms of kayfabe, though, there was sure to be pushback from certain portions of the IWC. Cena has long been the scapegoat for much of what is wrong with today's WWE, the man many diehard fans love to hate.

For that group, disliking Cena is a form of entertainment on its own.

He's Justin Bieber to indie rock fans. It's uncool to root for him. The opposite is true for The Shield.

Ambrose's independent-circuit background and his edgy promos as Jon Moxley make him the hip band whose T-shirt one can proudly wear to a party. Diehard fans often back Reigns, although he's not a product of indy wrestling, largely because he represents change.

Cena has been the king of an era that is heavily criticized. Fans imagine Ambrose or Reigns wearing his crowd and see prosperity in the future.

Injecting new blood into the product will earn one gobs of support.

When WWE travels to cities known for diehard, highly invested fans such as Chicago or London, Cena doesn't get a hero's welcome or even a blend of support and disapproval. He gets a chorus of guttural boos instead.

Pair him with someone these same fans are pulling for, and it creates a divide within those fans. How can they continue to roar for a pair of wrestlers who are working side by side with the IWC's public enemy No. 1?

Cena didn't join The Shield for good. There's no indication how much he will work with Reigns and Ambrose in the future, but should this happen more often, it's going to unsettle a number of fans. Imagine a fan's favorite underground songwriter suddenly collaborating with The Black-Eyed Peas on a regular basis.

One's passion for the songwriter is sure to suffer.

The Shield and Cena may be on the same side in terms of the fan favorite/heel dynamic, but they are opposing sides of a line fans have drawn long ago. It's an imaginary line that anti-Cena fans will either have to redraw or reposition to accommodate the stink of Cena The Shield will be wearing.

It's a line that WWE isn't going to concern itself with too much.

Cena is popular. The Shield is popular. That's what the company sees.

The fans who chant "Cena sucks" are doing so from seats that they paid for. The kind of fans who were torn up about the sight of The Shield and Cena working in tandem are the same folks who travel across the world to watch WrestleMania, tune in regularly, discuss every week's highs and lows and breathe WWE.

Besides, there were plenty of folks not bothered by it. The casual armchair fan books less and enjoys the product at face value more.

For every tweet screaming at WWE for putting Cena with The Shield even once, there is a fan like this one:
Fans often refer to the IWC to mean the older, more critical fans who praise technical wrestling and spit on Cena's name. The IWC is also made up of Cena lovers, such as @shawnitch, who were thrilled about last Monday's main event, strange pairing or not.
Seeing who shouts the loudest about Cena working with The Shield is an easy way to mark the line between these two types of fans. The ones upset over the old guard teaming with the new guard are going to only get more conflicted if this alliance endures.

Rollins is earning "You sold out" chants while Ambrose and Reigns found an ally in a man whom many regard as the epitome of a sellout.

Seth Rollins Is the Wrong Choice to Leave the Shield for Evolution

It's always been inevitable that The Shield would break up to start Roman Reigns' run as a star singles wrestler.  It was just a question of when and how.  We got the answer last night, as Seth Rollins ambushed both Reigns and Dean Ambrose with a chair, ostensibly to join Evolution.

When a breakup was initially teased in the winter, it looked as if Ambrose was splitting off from the group, leaving Rollins and Reigns as a regular tag team or leading to the end of The Shield.  It wasn't exactly clear how this would happen, and it wasn't really clear who would kick who out and why.

That was dropped for a while when the whole group turned babyface, first halfway and then completely the night after WrestleMania.  It made sense for a number of reasons.  Whatever turn you do would mean more after being dragged out longer. The Shield deserved a big babyface run before splitting.

Perhaps most importantly, whatever turn led to the Reigns run would work better with him as a babyface being turned on rather than him as a heel leaving the group to turn babyface.

Even then, it was hard to figure out what the exact scenario would be or even if it would happen, since The Shield had caught on so well as babyfaces anyway.  It's not like The Shield had to break up. Reigns could become a big star with Rollins and Ambrose as his allies.

If someone was going to turn, it seemed like it would either be Ambrose on his own (again), or Ambrose convincing Rollins (Reigns' primary partner in regular tag team matches) to join him in turning on Reigns.

Instead, Rollins turned on both Ambrose and Reigns last night, and so far, we don't know why.  While Rollins turning on Reigns is probably the best scenario emotionally, I'm not sure this is the best way to do it.  There was no buildup.  Rollins just turned to join two guys he battled for half an hour the night before.

Maybe there's some big brilliant explanation we'll all hear on Raw next week, but I'm not crazy about this so far.  The angle itself was tremendously executed, sure, but right now it's impossible to pin down why it happened.  On top of that, it's not as satisfying, narratively speaking, as all of the alternatives I can think of.

On the bright side, it's officially time to stop worrying about Rollins getting lost in the shuffle now that he's not part of The Shield.  If he's not actually in the Evolution stable proper, he's a top heel with ties to Triple H and Randy Orton.

For him, this is the best thing that can happen.  If Ambrose turned on Rollins and Reigns, Rollins would be Reigns' little buddy, which is a precarious spot.  If Ambrose and Rollins turned together, Rollins would run the risk of being Ambrose's henchman, which has similar pitfalls.

I'm honestly not sure where this is going, so I hope WWE has something clever up its sleeves.

WWE Payback 2014: The Shield and Evolution

After overcoming Evolution in a brutal match that had the crowed shouting "This is awesome" at Extreme Rules (Watch). The Shield will now have another chance to stand toe-to-toe with Triple H, Randy Orton & Batista at WWE Payback in a grand rematch.

Since The Shield defeated Evolution they have been put through a lot of disadvantageous situation again and again. On May 5th edition of Raw, then U.S Champion Ambrose lost his title when he was forced by Triple H to defend the title in a 20-Superstar Battle Royal. The match was won by Sheamus, ending Ambrose's 351 days title reigns. Later that night Evolution attacked The Shield win they were in a intense match against The Wyatt Family.

Triple H says that they know what it takes to win a war. Will the King of Kings, The Viper and The Animal defeat The Hounds of Justice and stand tall this time? Or will the Shield beat the Evolution in their own game and scoring another win.

WWE SmackDown 4/25/14 Result: The Shield Wages War

The story of Friday's SmackDown (WWE Smackdown 4/25/14) was The Shield's refusal to sit back and allow themselves to be beaten down by 11 other Superstars for the second time in as many weeks. Instead, they opted to take them out one by one until only a select few were left.

They started with Jack Swagger, following the former world champion's disappointing loss to Cesaro. They followed with a beatdown of 3MB in the backstage area and then added Raw general manager Brad Maddox to their list. A sick triple powerbomb to Fandango, off the stage and through two tables, ended the ballroom dancer's night and brought a "this is awesome" chant from the crowd in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Curtis Axel was apparently attacked off-camera, according to commentator Michael Cole, which left Titus O'Neil, Damien Sandow, Alberto Del Rio, Bad News Barrett and Ryback to battle the Hounds of Justice in the night's main event.

Despite taking a pounding from the opposition, Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose fought back and dispatched their opponents with methodical precision. Sandow, as has become the case with the former Money in the Bank winner, ate the pinfall following a Spear from Reigns and O'Neil, and Ryback also suffered the brunt of the punishment after the bell had sounded.

As The Shield stood united in the center of the squared circle, it was clear that this week's show belonged to them. WWE may have something special on its hands if it can resist the urge to split them too soon and if they can maintain the momentum they have built over the last month.

Kudos to the creative team, which perfectly crafted a story that ran throughout the show and had viewers wanting to see what The Shield would do next—where they would come from and which unlucky Superstar would be the latest to suffer at their hands. WWE should try utilizing this excellent storytelling more often.

WWE Raw Result 4/21/14: The Shield Faces off with Evolution

"And then one day, your daddy comes out and spanks you in front of the world."—Triple H.

"Do we look humbled to you?"—Ambrose to Triple H.

"Here in a few seconds, I'm gonna drop this mic and we're coming up that ramp and we're going to beat your asses."—Reigns to Evolution.

Triple H mocked The Shield, and Randy Orton said the trio sparked the inspiration for Evolution's reformation. They showed clips of Evolution's history of beatdowns.

Batista added that The Shield don't know what it got itself into.

That's when "The Hounds of Justice" stormed down to the ring. Evolution slipped away to avoid their seething foes.

Dean Ambrose reminded Triple H why he hired the group to protect Orton. Seth Rollins promised war at Extreme Rules, predicting that Evolution would disband at that show.

Roman Reigns threatened to fight Evolution right now. When he and his teammates charged, a wall of heels came out to protect Triple H and company.

Both teams barked. Both teams looked confident and strong.

Rollins flourished during his airtime. He was the most compelling man on his squad, something that hasn't always been the case.

It's surprising that WWE hasn't announced a stipulation for this bout yet. It appears that this will get more contentious first.

Kudos to the WWE production team. They did a great job with the Evolution highlights, especially in how they had images of Evolution's past mirror its present and vice versa.

Update on Plans for The Shield for WrestleMania 30 and Beyond

We saw on Raw this past week that The Shield turned babyface at long last after serving up a vicious beating on Kane.

It looks like the explosive trio are now set to work a program with the Director of Operations at WrestleMania XXX in order to cement their turn and become the top face stable in the company.

That has raised the possibility of The Shield vs. The Wyatt Family being resurrected after the completion of WrestleMania season, which would be another great spectacle.

However, despite their lifespan as a trio seemingly extended because of this turn, it seems that the Hounds of Justice will go their separate ways at some point in the near future. According to F4WOnline (h/t Lords of Pain), the split will still happen, as Marc Middleton writes:
"We noted before that there is still a plan in place for The Shield to split up. The plan is for Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to play the heel tag team while Roman Reigns will be booked as a top singles babyface.
The apparent babyface turn by The Shield on RAW was done to accomplish two things - allow The New Age Outlaws to work a program with them, which they requested, and to better set up Reigns' big singles run."
The way the article is written, it looks like we could well have found the two wrestlers that will join forces with Kane at WrestleMania XXX to work a six-man tag match. It seems as if it's the only real way for The Shield to be on the card at the show—especially if the three members will be presented as a babyface group.

It also makes sense for The Shield to eventually split up at some point, too. It had been teased for a while, and it looked like it was going to happen at several points over the last few months. However, credit to the WWE for providing the swerve and going in an almost completely different direction. It has paid off, and the three Superstars will make an excellent babyface outfit.

The article is correct in that it will also cement Roman Reigns as a top babyface when the split does happen. You would imagine Rollins and Ambrose would be the guys who turn on Reignsrather than the other way around. That would enable the turn from Rollins and Ambrose to be effective—and it would also nicely push Reigns to new heights.

It may come as a surprise to some that Rollins may turn heel when The Shield splits—it certainly would surprise me. He has been incredibly entertaining over the last couple of months in particular, and we will see just how good a face he can be during this run for The Shield.

This babyface turn for The Shield will definitely pay off—especially for Roman Reigns. If the plans are true for Reigns to be pushed to the top of the company as a huge face, then starting the run off with his compatriots in The Shield will help push him.

It would have been a pretty big risk to have Reigns go it alone as a face, breaking away from Rollins and Ambrose. This will see a few months of The Shield doing what the group does best—entertaining the crowd.

It may have been unthinkable six months ago to imagine The Shield turning face. However, it could end up being one of the smartest things the WWE has done in a long time. In terms of long-term impact, it will do wonders for the three men chiefly involved.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2014: Best Potential Finishes for the Shield vs. Wyatts

On February 23, World Wrestling Entertainment presents its Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. The night's most anticipated match is the six-man tag team war pitting the company's top two trios against one another.

Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, The Shield, will do battle with Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper, the Wyatt Family, in a match that fans have eagerly anticipated since the two groups came to blows back on the November 11 episode of Raw.

The build to the match has been masterfully crafted as neither group has laid a hand on the other. Instead, the creative team has opted to build anticipation and excitement for the match via intense staredowns and outstanding promos.

Wyatt, in particular, has done some of the best work of his young career in pre-taped promos aired before or after The Shield's matches in recent weeks.

Given the amount of hype surrounding this match, the importance of its finish will be amplified. It can make or break the entire bout, not to mention the booking of everyone involved for weeks and months afterward.

With a few different options at its disposal, the creative team has the opportunity to be a bit choosy with which finishes it takes into consideration.

First and foremost...

The Wyatt Family must win.

With the seeds for a Bray Wyatt versus John Cena match at WrestleMania XXX planted at last month's Royal Rumble when Wyatt interfered in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Cena and Randy Orton, it is imperative that the Wyatt Family gains momentum heading into the match.

A loss would set them back significantly and further create doubt that Wyatt has any real shot at defeating Cena at the biggest event of the year.

With that out of the way, here are a look at the best possible finishes for the match.

Wyatts win clean

A clean win for the Wyatt Family over The Shield would be huge for the cult-like trio. It would reestablish them as a threat to the entire WWE, especially following losses to Daniel Bryan and CM Punk to end 2013.

If Wyatt is destined to square off against Cena at WrestleMania, as was hinted at back at Royal Rumble, a clean pinfall victory over someone such as Roman Reigns, who has been booked so dominantly over the last five months, would give him every bit of momentum needed as he embarks on the road to the biggest show (and biggest match) of his blossoming career.

That finish is unlikely, however, because it would destroy everything creative has done to elevate Reigns to the level he is currently at.

Without him being part of the finish, it loses significant impact.

Shield dissension directly fuels Wyatt victory

Most expect that the mounting problems within The Shield will lead to the Wyatt Family's victory on February 23. How it does so remains the question.

One scenario sees the Wyatt Family capitalize on an inadvertent spear from Reigns to Ambrose or a betrayal by Ambrose to pick up the win.

While that would serve the purpose by giving the Wyatts the victory, it would do so in a backhanded fashion.

Rather than portraying the trio as competitors capable of winning the match on their own, they would look like guys who have to directly benefit from dysfunction among their opponents to capture a win.

It's not exactly how one would want one of the potentially more important elements of this year's WrestleMania to look heading into the big show.

Shield dissension indirectly fuels Wyatt victory

The best of the potential finishes for the big six-man tag bout still delivers the storyline aspects of the one prior but does so in a way that allows the victors to look stronger.

Rather than having the Wyatts score a win immediately following the Shield's actual split, this scenario sees the same sort of miscommunication spot between Reigns and Ambrose but does not set up the finish right away.

Instead, Seth Rollins attempts to get his teammates back on the same page before himself falling victim to Wyatt's Sister Abigail and eating the pinfall.

The Wyatt Family wins the match in impressive fashion, the tension between Ambrose and Reigns reaches a boiling point and Rollins, who had done everything in his power to be the glue that held the group together, now has a reason of his own to be fed up with the infighting.

It serves three different purposes without either of the impending feuds for WrestleMania suffering because of it.

That is the very definition of a successful booking decision.

Roman Reigns Breaks WWE Royal Rumble Record with 12 Eliminations

Roman Reigns may not have been victorious, but he walked away from the 2014 Royal Rumble as a clear-cut winner.

Before eventually being eliminated by Batista to bring the battle royale to a finish, the Shield member eliminated an astounding 12 participants of the 30-man match. As WWE's Twitter feed pointed out, it set a new record:

Reigns, who entered at No. 15 and proceeded to eliminate notable names such as Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Goldust, Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Nash, Sheamus and Antonio Cesaro (not in order) before finally finishing with 12 eliminations, broke Kane's record from 2001 when the Big Red Machine eliminated 11.

A certain other star in the business was quick to give the former tag team champ praise on Twitter:

Some will undoubtedly be disappointed that the record-setting performance only resulted in a "second-place" finish for Reigns, but as you might recall, Kane was the runner-up to Stone Cold when he dumped 11 participants over the ropes.

And things have worked out pretty well for him.

Although the record might be somewhat bitter-tasting, Reigns was made out to look incredibly strong. Perhaps the most notable elimination came near the end when he took out fellow Shield members Ambrose and Rollins as well as Cesaro at the same time.

This guy is a future champion, and after tonight, it's very clear—if it wasn't already before—that the WWE views him in that same light.

After the PPV, Jim Ross said that Reigns "shined," putting him in a group with only Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt, who put on a scintillating battle:

Batista's win and Bryan's exclusion from the match is undoubtedly going to rub people the wrong way—legend Mick Foley said he's "never been so disgusted with a PPV"—but there's no doubt Reigns was an extremely bright spot on the night.

The future is promising for the former defensive tackle.

The Shield's Chances of Breaking the Record for Longest WWE Tag Title Reign

The Shield won their WWE tag titles just two months ago, but it has a chance to break the record for holding those belts the longest.

How often does a new team get thrown into such high-profile matches or are made to look so dominant? It's been clear from the beginning that WWE believes in The Shield.

Though The Shield's undefeated streak is now a memory, this is a team so bursting with momentum and facing such little competition, that Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins have a decent shot at breaking a record that has stood since 2007.

The two have the best chance of anybody, though you still might not want to bet the house on it.

The history of the WWE Tag Team Championship doesn't date as far back as the now-defunct world tag titles, but becoming the longest-reigning champs in the championship's 11-year history would still be impressive.

Record holders Paul London and Brian Kendrick held the title from May 2006 to April 2007, for a total of 331 days.

Since then, more than 20 teams have won the championship. For The Shield to hold the belts longer than any of them and longer than London and Kendrick, Reigns and Rollins would have to keep winning for nine more months and retain their titles until WrestleMania XXX.

That's a tall order, but the majority of The Shield's foes seem incapable of dethroning them.

The Shield faces The Usos at the Money in the Bank pre-show. The Usos will go into that match as massive underdogs, while The Shield has been battling the likes of John Cena, Ryback, Sheamus and Randy Orton on pay-per-view this year. The Usos have been watching those shows from the locker room.

Rollins and Reigns easily dispatched Jimmy and Jey Uso in May. Expect them to do the same on July 14.

2013

With Christian's help, The Usos did score a victory over the three-man version on WWE SmackDown at the end of June. The Shield got its revenge just a few days later. This back-and-forth is WWE's way of making the Money in the Bank match seem less predictable, the smart money is on The Shield to retain, though.

The rest of the tag division doesn't offer any overwhelming threats.

Tons of Funk and 3MB are comedy acts. Neither team has won a significant match. The Prime Time Players stand a comparatively better shot, but Titus O'Neil and Darren Young once gave way to a hotter team in Team Hell No and will probably do that again with The Shield.

It's more likely that either the Wyatt Family or self-destruction will cause The Shield's downfall.

Bray Wyatt and his creepy followers offer WWE a blank slate. They have not lost a single match. They have not been dominated or embarrassed the way the other teams have at some point.

Should WWE send them on a rampage to open their WWE campaign, they could be built up as contenders for the titles.

Either that or jealousy, mutiny or tension within the group could lead to The Shield falling.

Their path to surpassing London and Kendrick is certainly not without obstacles, but it's a journey we could witness over the next few months. The company has shown that it is not opposed to lengthy tag title runs.

Carlito and Primo Colon, John Morrison and The Miz and Team Hell have all held the title for around 250 days. They were all a few months away from making history themselves.

It would be exciting for The Shield to do what those squads couldn't. WWE is in the business of drumming up excitement and because it can create its own history, The Shield could benefit from a desire to see a record broken, to see dominance reign.

The only thing is, crowning new champs is a thrilling story as well.

Does WWE pull the trigger on new titleholders before The Shield can overtake London and Kendrick, or does it look to make Reigns and Rollins into legends?

It's not as though The Shield has to win 100 matches to break that record.

The tag titles aren't often defended on weekly TV and are often not a part of pay-per-views. Say WWE has plans for The Shield at Survivor Series that don't involve defending the titles. Say Reigns or Rollins or both enter the 2014 Royal Rumble instead of fighting a team of challengers.

That means The Shield would have to win roughly six or seven times on pay-per-view. That's not an impossible number to reach, but it's one that is anything but certain.

In order to become the longest-reigning champs, The Shield must go on a trek with foes lining the mountain it wishes to climb. Count on Reigns and Rollins knocking The Usos out of their way on Sunday.

Stay tuned to see the group approach history beyond that, step by step, win by win.
