WWE SummerSlam 2011 Predictions

The biggest party of the summer—SummerSlam—is only six days away.

This year's event will be the 24th annual SummerSlam. WrestleMania is undoubtedly the top PPV of the year for WWE, and the Royal Rumble has a great gimmick draw to it.

But SummerSlam has a rich history of its own.

This year, the WWE will add to the history of SummerSlam with some good matches, highlighted by the John Cena/CM Punk angle.

Who do I think will win this match? I will give my predictions for that match as well as all the other matches with this slideshow.

There are four matches advertised for the event. They are:

John Cena (c) vs. CM Punk (c)—winner is the Undisputed WWE Champion

Christian (c) vs. Randy Orton World Heavyweight Championship match/No Holds Barred

Sheamus vs. Mark Henry

Kelly Kelly (c) vs. Beth Phoenix Divas Championship match

I would expect the WWE to give Dolph Ziggler an opponent for his U.S. Title at SummerSlam.

I also expect Ezekiel Jackson to take on Cody Rhodes for the Intercontinental Championship at the event.

Divas Championship Kelly Kelly (c) vs. Beth Phoenix
Beth Phoenix became the No.1 contender this past Monday night Raw by winning a diva battle royal.

After the match, Kelly went into the ring to congratulate Beth, but the "Glamazon" had none of that.

Beth assaulted Kelly and claimed that the days of the perky blonde bimbo in the WWE are over.

On Smackdown, Natalya followed suit and did the exact same thing, only it was to A.J. (Kelly Kelly 2.0).

The WWE seems to be pushing their two biggest and strongest divas into power heel roles. One that will see them take over the divas division.

This is most likely being done so that Kharma can return and destroy them.

Since the WWE is pushing the power divas, I see Beth going over in this one.

Winner and new Divas Champion, Beth Phoenix.

Sheamus vs. Mark Henry
Mark Henry has been on a path of destruction on Smackdown.

Henry has taken out the Big Show, Kane and Vladimir Kozlov. Henry issued an open challenge to any superstar who thought they could take him on.

Sheamus took on the challenge and has gone toe to toe with Mark since then.

The WWE has built up Sheamus as a power face and even let him destroy their "big man" Khali.

Sheamus defeats Mark Henry, but I think their rivalry continues.

World Heavyweight Championship: Christian (c) vs. Randy Orton No Holds Barred
Boy has this rivalry been going on for a long time.

Christian finally defeated Orton at MITB to win the WHC, but it wasn't without a predictable finish.

Orton was disqualified and Christian won via the terms of the match. Christian became the first in history to win the WHC via DQ.

This match could go either way.

I would like to see Christian win so that the WHC doesn't get devalued any more than it already has been.

But, can the WWE go against Randy Orton? Orton lost cleanly on Smackdown, which is not a good sign for Christian. Orton losing twice in three weeks? Unheard of.

Then again, this Christian vs. Randy Orton rivalry has gone on for a very, very long time, and I don't no how much more the WWE could add to it to keep it exciting.

Winner and still World Heavyweight Champion, Christian.

WWE Championship Match: John Cena (c) vs. CM Punk (c)
The history of this match is great.

CM Punk challenges John Cena for the WWE Championship in his hometown of Chicago.

Punk wins and quits the WWE, leaving with the WWE Championship.

The WWE then creates a new belt, which John Cena eventually wins.

Now Punk is the WWE champion and so is John Cena. The winner of this match will be the Undisputed WWE Champion.

I can see this match going either way, really.

Can John "Superman" Cena lose at two straight pay-per-views? Cena could win and add to his resume, but what would the WWE gain out of it?

If CM Punk wins, on the other hand, the WWE adds to Punk's fire and fuels the fans' appetite for anything and everything CM Punk-related.

The feud will continue, and maybe Triple H will become more involved in an angle with Punk.

If the WWE wants to make the most money and make the fans happy, then CM Punk needs to win at SummerSlam.

There is one more possibility that I know will not happen.

The WWE has the perfect chance to turn Cena heel at SummerSlam.

John Cena defeating the biggest fan favorite since Stone Cold? That would give Cena so much heat and fuel this rivalry for a very long time.

Add Triple H's involvement, and you have one interesting story line.

But enough of the fantasy land dreams. It is time for my prediction.

Considering everything that I know about this rivalry and the WWE, I have to give CM Punk an edge here.

CM Punk wins and is the Undisputed WWE Champion.

Recap
So far, only four matches have been advertised for this PPV. But I wouldn't be surprised if at least two more matches are added this week—either a tag team title match, a U.S. title match, or Cody Rhodes vs. Ezekiel Jackson for the Intercontinental Championship.

Of the advertised matches, here is who I have winning:

Beth Phoenix defeats Kelly Kelly and wins the Divas Championship.

Sheamus defeats Mark Henry.

Christian defeats Randy Orton and retains his World Heavyweight Championship.

CM Punk defeats John Cena and is the Undisputed WWE Champion.

Notes
John Cena and Randy Orton both lose at a WWE PPV?

Hard to believe, but it makes the most sense this time around. Then again, when does the WWE ever make sense of anything?

Sheamus and Mark Henry will continue their feud after their match, eventually leading to Sheamus' main event push.

Beth wins and starts a "diva uprising" among the "bigger, stronger and tougher" divas.

This is all done so Kharma can return as either a face and destroy them all or as a heel and join them, only to turn on them.
