After getting half pushes and mediocre runs at secondary championships, this finally looks like the beginning of a heavy push for WWE star Cody Rhodes.
The son of WWE legend Dusty Rhodes is one of the best in-ring workers in the company, and his mic skills have come a long way since he came through the door.
After short stints as US Title and Tag Title holder and feuds that were thought to lead to World Title opportunities, the road to a the top is more clearly laid out now than ever before for the youngest Rhodes wrestler.

Cody Rhodes defeated Ezekiel Jackson for the Intercontinental Championship at tonight's WWE Smackdown taping. We will have detailed taping results posted as soon as we receive them.
As with many of the biggest pushes in the WWE’s history, it almost almost always stars with a secondary belt, but leads to bigger and better matches and even World titles.
Rhodes has the inside track to the top with the status and clout his father has in the WWE, but don’t think for one second that he is having anything handed to him. Rhodes works very hard to get better, and you can see it with every match he works.
Ezekiel Jackson is a great physical specimen, but his lame move set and his inability to keep a crowd interested will relegate him to a jobber before the year is through. Soon enough he will find himself with Chris Masters on the unemployment line while Cody Rhodes is sporting the World Heavyweight Championship.
