Why The Rock and Steve Austin Should Be Involved in Storylines

While we all are watching with anticipation to see who CM Punk will face at Hell in a Cell, is the WWE missing a truly golden opportunity to have the current WWE Champion involved in angles with both Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock?

When The Rock appeared in July and announced he would face the WWE Champion at the Royal Rumble, there was a sense the famed WWE Superstar and movie actor would be more active in the WWE from that point forward.

Then he came face to face with CM Punk.

A colossal fail on the part of the WWE, because while Punk put “The People’s Champion” to sleep, the company did not capitalize on the potential for this type of magnified confrontation. Now, with John Cena on the shelf and the WWE title match at HIAC in limbo until Monday, when Punk makes his choice for who he will face between Cena and Ryback in the main event.

Last week, when he confronted WWE owner Vince McMahon, Punk was very vocal (in the only way he knows how) about WWE stars of the past who have been a thorn in his side—mainly Austin.

Why haven’t we seen Austin in anything that has been done since Punk has changed his stripes?

It's natural that the anti-hero of the WWE and everyone’s favorite “employee” of the company might be a perfect fit for this angle.

It also means the WWE would not need Cena, the cash cow that he is, to return to work before he is completely healed, plus it could allow the company tweak his character a bit (although we know this will never happen).

The WWE waited forever for the The Rock and John Cena to come face to face after WrestleMania 27, and while that match was pretty darn good, the fact that Punk and The Rock have not had much chemistry in the past may be a bad thing if Punk is the champion of the company when the Royal Rumble comes around (and this would also guarantee that The Rock will win the title and be the new champion next year).

I just do not understand why it is that the WWE—and truly I do not know if they thought of this and reached out to both Austin and The Rock with these ideas—misses so many chances of late for greatness. With injuries, character changes, wrestlers who haven’t panned out and recent releases of talent, this seems so logical, it is almost too easy to call.

Better yet, the fans want to see it happen and are begging for something like this.

All I am saying is the WWE needs to give us something more than what is happening now. Or, it needs to give me something more than what is happening now.

The indecision is good to a point, but there are too many other talented wrestlers who could be in the title picture—or there are too many wrestlers who are in the title picture that do not make any sense to me. There has to be some change or some spark that really makes us want to see Raw on a weekly basis.

McMahon’s appearance was good, but he cannot come on screen every week and try to change the course of wrestling. The Rock and Austin, like a Mick Foley, are still relevant.

Make it happen, WWE. Give us, rather, give me what I want to see.

Sound familiar?

The Texas Rattlesnake, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin was the original version of what CM Punk is now becoming. It is quite funny that CM Punk was even wearing a Stone Cold shirt when he cut his epic promo in Las Vegas, Nev. in late June.

John Cena is the new-age version of The Rock and CM Punk is the new-age Stone Cold.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin said that he is in good enough shape that he could indeed wrestle again. Could this whole corporate storyline against CM Punk be setting up to where CM Punk wrestles the mystery GM at WrestleMania and it winds up being Stone Cold?

Punk is jealous that Cena gets his match with The Rock, so that is really why the possibility of it being Stone Cold is starting to make more and more sense.

Who will CM Punk face at WWE WrestleMania 28

The focus of WWE’s WrestleMania XXVII appears to be on one match: the current face of WWE, John Cena, vs. the past face of WWE, The Rock. Wrestler CM Punk, however, thinks the hype should be in his corner.

The Cena vs.The Rock clash has created so much hype that NBC will broadcast it live Saturday (Aug. 20) night. No other match will be able to rival it—much like Hollywood Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock in 2002, and Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker in 2010. These types of tilts eclipse all the others on the card, even though now with the rise in popularity of CM Punk I can’t imagine his match being overshadowed by the “dream match” of The Rock vs. John Cena.

In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, CM Punk stated, “The biggest match any wrestling company can do right now is CM Punk vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin.” He went on to say why he thought this would be the ideal match for WWE: “I'm straight edge. I don't drink. I don't do drugs. I don't smoke. And that is the perfect protagonist or antagonist to Stone Cold Steve Austin, depending on how you want to spin it. It writes itself. You would have to try really, really hard to f*** that one up.”

CM Punk clearly wants Stone Cold’s comeback match to be against him, and what better occasion to do it than at WrestleMania XXVII. This would also mean that Punk would get a big main-event match worthy of his present reputation. I can’t imagine many WWE fans would be happy to watch him flounder in a pointless WrestleMania match like the last one against Randy Orton.

In another interview with SEScoops, Austin stated, “Punk is the hottest, freshest thing going today in the wrestling business.” Adding, “If I were to have one last tango, doing it with CM Punk would be the way to go." This kind of talk may add gas to the Punk vs. Austin card, which would be bigger than The Rock vs. Cena matchup.

Punk is deserving of a big main-event match and the fans seem more invested in him than in John Cena at the moment. I don’t think WWE would put Punk in a match with The Undertaker. To be honest, I have no idea who will face The Undertaker in his final WrestleMania match. It is likely that it will be Triple H, but who knows which way WWE will go.

Hopefully, WWE will make the right decision and put CM Punk in a match worthy of his caliber, and ride the wave of his popularity.

Best possible post-WWE Summerslam 2011 storyline

John Cena and CM Punk put on an outstanding match at Money in the Bank and will now meet again at SummerSlam, with HHH as the special referee. This match has a lot riding on it, and many people have given match previews.

But what is the best thing that could come from this?

Odds are both men will put on an entertaining match, with each man taking the other to his limit.

The promos that have occured leading up to this match are what truly make this match something special.

Both men will have their moments, and it will appear that both at some point have taken the match, but as you know, it will end up as a two-count and carry on.

HHH as the referee will have something to do with the final outcome; we have all watched WWE enough to know that special referees always interfere. Odds are HHH will assist CM Punk, whether it is on purpose or by accident, and Punk will get the three-count and be the "undisputed" WWE champion.

But from there it truly gets interesting.

Immediately following the match, there are a few possible outcomes.

We could see HHH attack the champion, whether it is Punk or Cena, and Alberto Del Rio come out to in his Money in the Bank briefcase. (Mexico tour coming up soon.) This is the most logical choice, and that would set up interesting feuds down the road.

The second possibility is that Vince McMahon could somehow be involved. He could state that he has a lawyer or just something really weird, and it could interfere with HHH as referee. But afterward Del Rio could still cash in his brief case.

Let's say that Del Rio does cash in.

The Cena vs Punk feud would continue on, with Punk delivering legendary promos and continuing to express his hate for what Cena has been given by the WWE and the fact that he hasn't been given the same perks.

This could end up being a feud that leads all the way up to the Royal Rumble but could even go into WrestleMania.

Of course Punk and Cena will not face off at WrestleMania, and no, they will not fight at each PPV, but they could end up having the type of feud that Angle and Lesnar had years ago in which they attempted to always one-up each other.

By the possibility of that happening (fingers crossed), that could lead to somehow CM Punk's talking Stone Cold Steve Austin into having one more match, that match being against him at WrestleMania 28.

Yes, that is just a fantasy, and there is a great chance that it will not happen.

But hey, a person can always dream, right?

Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole at WWE Over the Limit 2011

Michael Cole can certainly boast about the silly undefeated streak he maintains by facing WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler, but the sniveling announcers competition with The King has never really been about wins and losses. Considering that, the start, its represented all about embarrassment. From insulting Lawlers late mother to mistreating his close friend Jim Ross, Cole has performed almost everything in his meager power to take down his longtime broadcast co worker. But all the backstabbing and name calling will come to a head at WWE Over the Limit when the two competitors encounter one more time with Lawler's Hall of Fame-hood in the equilibrium Cole's for the taking.

Cole and Lawler always have switched over spoken pokings in the announce stall, but matters became physical on the Nov. 29 edition of Raw when the fearful Cole cost The King his WWE Championship Match up against The Miz. It was a thornless motion, but the self proclaimed "Spokesperson of WWE" was unrepentant regarding his actions. In the weeks that came after, the blusterer constantly junked Lawler while hiding from his rival inside a particularly built stall he nicknamed "The Cole Mine."

Once again, Coles flabby, pale physical structure was soured black and blue by his annoyed challengers and their leather whips. And once again he pulled off to worm his out with a triumph when he rolled up a diverted Ross for the gain.

Jerry Lawler & Jim Ross vs. Michael Cole & Jack Swagger

This match has been beyond personal issues which involved after Wrestlemania 27 (watch). This match is an re-match of Wrestlemania, and the re-match will happen at Extreme Rules in a tag match - Jerry Lawler & Jim Ross vs. Michael Cole & Jack Swagger.

The original voice of WWE re-united Jerry Lawler & Jim Ross are back which we thought will never happen again, but they are back to to silence Cole for good.

For may years Cole has been mocking Lawler's family and with the help of The All American American Jack Swagger, Cole attacked Lawler week after week.

With the help of The Tough Enough host Steve Austin , Lawler won his match at Wrestlemania but The Raw's anonymous GM reversed that decision and disqualified Lawler.

Cole and Swagger attacked Jim Ross after Wrestlemania, Lawler and Swagger had an match at Raw and the winner can choose the stipulation for their match at Extreme Rules. lawler how ever won the match and he made the match and Tag-Team Match.
