Is Evan Bourne really a forgotten WWE superstar on RAW?

Evan Bourne is the superstar equivalent of a little kid alone on a swing. He sits there quietly with nobody behind him and nobody willing to push him. Bourne has been on the verge of a push for more than a year now, only for nothing to have surfaced.

For every rise in Bourne's stock, there has been something to make him fall.Bourne pins WWE champion Sheamus, but gets destroyed by Edge. Bourne gets a few wins over Chris Jericho, but Jericho wins with his career on the line. Bourne gets Money in the Bank ladder matches in each of the last two years, but doesn't get anything from it.

Bourne gets to beat Jack Swagger on a pay-per-view, but doesn't get in the WWE Championship tournament a few years ago.

In fact, Bourne is the only man to be in RAW's Money in the Bank ladder match, but not in the WWE Championship tournament. Insert Dolph Ziggler into the tournament and keep Alberto Del Rio, championship briefcase in tow, in the tournament. Meanwhile, Bourne was demoted to a match on Superstars that week against Primo.

Last week, Bourne was back on RAW, but lost quickly to Dolph Ziggler and his new entrance music. Ziggler even grabbed a microphone and exclaimed, "Beat that!", which seems to be sound advice if Ziggler was referring to beating Bourne.

Bourne's matches typically have him taking a lot of punishment in before he either hits Air Bourne and wins or keeps getting destroyed and loses. The latter is what happened to Bourne last night on RAW when Alberto Del Rio got the better of him.

Despite being a good worker, Evan Bourne has stayed down while bigger guys, like Mason Ryan, have shown signs of moving up.

I can't quite understand what Evan Bourne has done to deserve such poor treatment in his booking. We have seen men violate the wellness policy, only to return a month later as if nothing had happened. There have been men that have done unforgivable things, only to rise above it in the long run.

His resemblance to a pre-teen boy aside, Bourne has been a company guy through and through and has had the blessing from John Cena from that original indication of a push. Through it all, Bourne has somehow been passed over.

Is it his size that is hanging everyone up about Bourne's legitimacy? He is billed at 183 lbs., just nine pounds lighter than Daniel Bryan's billed weight. Bryan has a blue briefcase that stands for a world title match whenever he feels like it; Bourne doesn't.

What about Bourne's lack of height? Bourne stands 5'9", three inches taller than Rey Mysterio, who is a three-time world champion and held the WWE Championship at one point last week. Meanwhile, Bourne is yet to hold a championship of any kind in his three years on the main roster.

Bourne seems to sit in obscurity and watch as each new up-and-coming star is picked for the next level. Bourne has watched a reality TV star be deemed awesome, a luchador be unmasked and chase his destiny for gold and a Long Island stereotype earn his push and popularity from a YouTube channel.

It all doesn't seem fair to Bourne, who goes out to the ring and makes anyone look good while he is there. He makes the big look even bigger and can sell any finisher to make it look strong. He's also just 28 years old.

As the times move on and new stars are made, Evan Bourne continues to sit there, just like a child on a swing set, waiting for that push he was promised so long ago. The real question isn't whether or not Bourne will get that push.

The true question to ponder is how long Bourne will wait for that push before he gets off his swing and moves on, perhaps to where "wrestling matters."
