Naomi recently appeared on Lillian Garcia’s “Making Their Way to the Ring” podcast to talk about a variety of topics, including the Glow gimmick. It turns out that she had been trying to get it on TV for two years and WWE didn’t seem all that happy with it at first. Here are the comments, with transcription courtesy of Wrestlinginc.com:
On where the Glow idea came from:
“The inspiration comes from a movie from the 80s, called The Last Dragon. It’s about this martial artist who is on this journey to find the glow. It’s all about him really at the end of the day finding his confidence. He had it all along. He just had to look within himself.”
As for whether WWE liked the idea in the first place:
“No. Absolutely not. Two years. It took me two years to get them to finally hear me out on this concept, this idea, and the entrance and everything.”
You can see the full interview below. Note that this was recorded before Naomi had to vacate the Women’s Title due to injury.
