Brock Lesnar Fined $10K for Actions Towards a Referee During 2014 Royal Rumble

It's a point that has been made painfully—at least for Big Show—clear as of late: The WWE wants to continue to establish Brock Lesnar as as big of a monster as possible before WrestleMania in April.

The newest strategy in making that happen came in the form of a monetary fine on Tuesday, Jan. 28, as the company's official website confirmed that the Beast Incarnate has been hit with a $10,000 fine for "his actions toward the referee" following his Royal Rumble match:
"Following his actions toward the referee at Sunday’s Royal Rumble event, WWE has fined Brock Lesnar $10,000. The ruling came down less than 48 hours after The Anomaly delivered an onslaught to Big Show at the pay-per-view in Pittsburgh. His tirade continued the next night on Raw when a furious Lesnar attacked former WWE Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes and Goldust."
Wrestlers interact with referees all the time and are never fined, so unless the WWE is suddenly taking after the NFL in its seemingly erratic punishment policy, it's pretty clear this is kayfabe.

During his match at Sunday's mostly disappointing pay-per-view, Lesnar crushed Big Show in a matter of minutes and proceeded to lay into him with countless chair shots.

The following Monday, Lesnar demanded a title shot from Randy Orton before causing havoc on the tag team title match between the New Age Outlaws and Cody Rhodes and Goldust.

Giving him a fine is just the next step. Lesnar won't respond kindly to a lighter wallet, and he'll likely take it out on some poor sap in another instance when he causes mass destruction.

The question now becomes, where is the WWE going with this storyline?

Is it simply an avenue for him to force his way into the Elimination Chamber match next month? Then, if he won that, Lesnar vs. Batista at WrestleMania would at least pique interest more than Orton vs. Batista.

Or is Lesnar simply being built up so he can serve as a viable opponent for Undertaker at WrestleMania? If he continues to "get into trouble" with the company (read: fines), the Authority could respond by pitting him against the one man capable of stopping his reign.

Either way, we'll likely get a better idea of what this means on Raw next week.
