For those who are desperate for any news relating to one of the business' greatest legends, read on.
F4WOnline is currently reporting that WWE is trying to persuade Undertaker, real name Mark Calaway, to return to in-ring action before next year's showcase WrestleMania PPV.
According to the report, "Vince McMahon is expecting The Undertaker to work WrestleMania 29 and there is talk of trying to get him into coming back for January's Royal Rumble pay-per-view to help boost the buy rate" (h/t Wrestling Inc).
"The idea is that he would be a huge name in the Rumble match and they would tease that he could get one more big-time title match at WrestleMania."
Since his "End of an Era" showdown with Triple H this past April, Undertaker has only made one, token appearance on our screens—a brief return at the 1000th Raw episode to help Kane dispose of some rather annoying midcarders.
Most in the WWE Universe assumed that his next match however would only be at WrestleMania XXIX in 2013, and even then his appearance wasn't guaranteed.
In July, legendary commentator Jim Ross blogged on his thoughts regarding Calaway's possible in-ring future.
"Has Undertaker retired? O.K., let's think about this one. IF Taker had retired, wouldn't one think that WWE would memorialize that occasion in a HUGE way?" (h/t Wrestling Inc).
"Come on folks, WWE is an entertainment company and when one of the biggest stars in history decides to call it a day, I think I can safely say, that we will all know. So the answer is 'no' the Undertaker has not retired and 'no' I don't know when he's returning."
With just over three months until the Royal Rumble PPV in January, expectations will be high if an Undertaker return is at all possible.
Just thinking about that crowd pop is already getting me excited.
