John Cena should turn heel now.

John Cena is the WWE's golden child, he is the ultimate babyface character in an era that does not like to define faces and heels. He is the poster boy for everything that this company has become—for better or worse—over the last five years.

However, now would be the perfect time to give him a heel run, even if only for a few months.
His feud with The Rock is about to kick-off in earnest thanks to a Survivor Series tag team match against The Miz and R-Truth. However, the announcement didn't have the level of interest that you might think Rock's return match would.

Perhaps that had something to do with the fact that there was a commercial on Raw announcing The Rock would be wrestling on the pay-per-view, so no one was surprised when Cena made his choice.

Perhaps the feud is running thin right now and something needs to happen to get back the momentum they had at this past year's WrestleMania.

Rock will be appearing on television before the pay-per-view to help build the show, and will likely have some things to say to Cena.

Of all the things that WWE could do to make the Rock-Cena match the biggest and most profitable in the history of the company, the best would be to have Cena turn on Rock at Survivor Series.

We already know that these two men don't like each other, which is why it makes little sense to have them work as a tag team. But when you bring together two people that don't like each other, you are essentially telling the audience that something bad is going to happen.

Sure, WWE just screwed that up by having Triple H and CM Punk work together, but we must not give up hope that Vince McMahon will do the right thing for Rock and Cena.

The biggest reason given for not turning Cena heel is because he does all the promotional work for WWE, and it would be hard to sell the company with such a dastardly heel.

I have always felt that is a cop-out, mainly because wrestling is not like any other sports or entertainment business. You can get away with things in this business that you can't in others.

Cena has played a heel before, when he first started in WWE, so we know that he has what it takes to perform the role. It is just a matter of being able to pull the trigger on the move.

Some of the best angles in WWE history have come from partners turning on each other.

The beauty of a Cena heel turn on The Rock is that it doesn't have to be a long, drawn out move. He can play the villain through WrestleMania and then go back to being the smiling, lame joke-telling, kid-friendly Superman that has been parading around the ring for years.

They did it back in 2005 with Shawn Michaels and Hulk Hogan, and it worked beautifully. That show did phenomenal business because Michaels sold the heel turn, and the fans wanted to see the dynamic between these two men in the ring.

WrestleMania 28 is going to be big, but it could be even bigger if Cena changes the dynamic of the feud and turns on Rock at Survivor Series.
