There is no question that the WWE universe loves John Cena and Randy Orton, but these two wrestlers shouldn’t be World Champions.
Don’t get me wrong, both Cena and Orton deserve the chance to be the World champions, but there are so many stars in the WWE that deserve title shots and runs.
The WWE can’t continue to hand the title to just two people when they have a plethora of talented young stars that need the appropriate push to get over with the fans.
While this is easier said than done, there is a simple solution that would both help the stars looking for a title run and both Cena and Orton establish a new era of their reigns.
With CM Punk and Daniel Bryan ruling the roosts for awhile as World Champions, the WWE should let Cena and Orton hold the Intercontinental and United States Championships.
I know it wouldn’t satisfy the fans that are all over Randy Orton because they love their “Apex Predator” (by the way, I know all he did was look up top dog in the thesaurus to get that name), but giving him the Intercontinental belt would both give him new feuds and legitimize the IC belt again.
As for the United States title, John Cena is the perfect man to hold the belt and bring a new sense of hype to a title that has lost its charisma. Cena would have no problem putting people over for awhile before getting another run as WWE Champion.
Orton would be less receptive to this idea, but he needs to realize that he was handed all the success he has had in the WWE, and now he needs to help put other wrestlers over in between title reigns.
This is a complicated, long-term process, but if the WWE wants to widen the spectrum of stars, they should utilize these stellar ideas.
