Amazing Red has been released from TNA

Earlier today Johnathan Figueroa, known by his ring name "Amazing Red," wrote the following on his Twitter wall:

"Heys Guyz, I just wanted to let Ya kno 1st...TNA & I parted ways do to the 'creative has nothing for you' line, so we r gonna future endeavor each other right now. Thanks to my @ImpactWrestling famo & fans... Now 'On to the Next one' (Jay-Z)"

Amazing Red was one of the original TNA X-Division champions and held one half of the NWA Tag Team Champion belts (in TNA that is) along with his partner Jerry Lynn, before his first departure in 2005.

Since returning to TNA he won the X-Division title quickly, defeating Samoa Joe for the belt. He would go on to win it one more time before TNA decided to use him sparingly, normally as a jobber to push others.

He was also being booked as another character, Sangriento, a masked luchador from Mexico.

His last match was at Destination X, where he fought, unsuccessfully, to reclaim the TNA X-Division title.

I personally, am sad to see him go. He was a great talent and the type of guy the X-Division should be built around. (I just don't get the X-Division feel for Brian Kendrick.)

There are no reports yet if TNA is going to abandon the Sangriento character, but I don't know if anyone could do it as well as Amazing Red.

Red has worked for Ring of Honor, Jersey All-Pro Wrestling and Chikara, to name a few, and had good showings in all three. Hopefully we will see him again real soon.

This is yet another release of a young TNA talent, a thing that is becoming very familiar. So far, the Young Bucks, Orlando Jordan, Jay Lethal and Amazing Red are just a few of the top young guys leaving TNA. With reports of hostility backstage between the young guys and the veterans, we may see this trend continuing.

As for Amazing Red, I wish him the best of luck. For the few years you were back with TNA, you truly were Amazing.

Max Buck, of Generation ME (aka The Young Bucks), reacted with the following:

"Within a year, you've now lost (Jay Lethal), (Jeremy Buck), (Max Buck), & (Amazing Red). C'mon now."

Red wrote in the response, "Weird huh, (X-Division run)."
