WWE Needs to Pull the Trigger on Sami Zayn or Give Him the NXT Title

Sami Zayn is one of the most talented Superstars on the NXT roster and in all of professional wrestling. He was a big "get" for the WWE when he signed due to all his experience around the world and popularity among indy wrestling fans.

Zayn has been wrestling in NXT for the better part of two years, but the WWE has yet to pull the trigger with him in regards to winning the NXT Championship or being brought up to the main roster.

It's time for the WWE to make up its mind: either give him the NXT title or bring him up.

He has been chasing Adrian Neville's title for several months—always coming close but never quite close enough to knock off the champ.

Zayn has had a little bit of exposure with a handful of matches on the main roster, but a lot of fans are still unfamiliar with the former El Generico.

While it might seem like getting some time on Raw and Main Event is a good thing, it actually could hurt him in some ways. Now he can't have a big debut because everyone already knows he's some guy from the WWE's equivalent to a Triple-A club.

If the WWE slowly trickles Zayn onto the main roster, he will not have the benefit of the initial push someone gets when he comes in fresh.

Not that the two can be compared in terms of ability, but look at what happened to Xavier Woods. He was slowly introduced to the WWE Universe without any real debut push, and he ended up becoming a jobber before his current repackaging.

The Shield and Rusev had effective debuts because very few people knew who they were outside of NXT. They had some mystery to them, and that made fans take interest.

The worst part about how Zayn has already been portrayed on the main roster is that he has been shown losing. If someone is seen losing before he even makes it to the main roster, it's not going to leave a good impression in the minds of people who don't know what Zayn is truly capable of.

All you have to do is watch any of his matches for the NXT title to see that he is an extraordinary talent with certain gifts that simply can't be taught.

The way he is being built up in NXT is intriguing because he seems cursed to lose every time he challenges for the title. But that's just NXT.

Only a fraction of the WWE Universe even has the WWE Network to watch the show. And only some of those subscribers actually tune in. Zayn can afford to take losses in NXT, but he should have won the matches he's had on the big shows so he looks strong for his eventual call-up.

The main problem is that it's starting to get a little crowded in NXT. Neville, Tyler Breeze and Zayn have been the most prominent stars in 2014. But now we have guys like Hideo Itami, Finn Balor and Kevin Steen coming in.

All those big names vying for the same spot will lead to some great matches, but it's also going to create congestion in the main-event scene.

When it comes down to it, the WWE has two choices. It can give Zayn the NXT Championship and bring up Neville, or it can bring up Zayn and have Neville continue to build an impressive resume as champion in NXT.

There's no point in the WWE dragging its feet any longer. Zayn is more than ready for the main roster, and his popularity could really help while there are so many top stars out because of injuries or other reasons.

Unless he is going to be given the title at the next Takeover event, Zayn has done all he can do in NXT. He's a star just waiting to break out, but a decision needs to be made about his future soon.

What do you think? Should Zayn win the NXT title, or is he better off being brought up to the main roster right now?
