Christian made his long-awaited return on the June 17th edition of Raw. He defeated former Intercontinental champion Wade Barrett.

The Shield attacked him on the June 21st edition of SmackDown. Christian joined forces with The Usos and handed The Shield their second loss the following week.

Christian is now booked as a participant in the Money in the Bank All-Stars ladder match.

With a victory in that match highly unlikely, what does the future look like for Captain Charisma?

He is still a main event-level talent. However, with the WWE in a changing of the guard, a change in scenery may be in store for the former World Heavyweight champion.

It took Christian a long time to reach that spot, but it was well-deserved.

Christian won multiple tag team and midcard titles during his initial run. He finally reached the main event scene, but in TNA, where he won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship twice.

He then returned to WWE and defeated Jack Swagger for the ECW Championship at the 2009 Backlash event. He won the title again at the 2009 Night of Champions pay-per-view.

Christian’s push continued as he defeated Alberto Del Rio for the world title at the 2011 Extreme Rules event. Unfortunately, it only lasted five days when he lost to Randy Orton on the following SmackDown. He regained the title by defeating Orton at Money in the Bank, but lost it again to Orton at SummerSlam.

Christian had his turn at the top. He is popular with the WWE Universe, but his time as world champion is no more.

It seemed that WWE Creative gave him the title as charity because his best friend, Edge, was forced to retire. They didn't see him as a top star, which is probably why he hasn't been frequently booked in the main event.

I see Christian’s remaining years with the WWE spent in the midcard. There are plenty of rising superstars he could have great matches with. United States champion Dean Ambrose and Intercontinental champion Curtis Axel are two that come to mind.

He doesn’t need to win either title as it allows the younger talent to say they beat a two-time world champion.

Christian would be able to play the role of Chris Jericho while he tours with Fozzy. Now, I’m not saying Christian and Jericho are on the same level, but it accomplishes the same thing—getting younger talent over and building the future of WWE.

He still has plenty left in the tank, which is why working with the new talent is great, both for him and the WWE. Superstars like Bray Wyatt, Fandango, The Shield, Axel and whoever else WWE decides to bring up from NXT are going to need someone to lead them in the ring.
