WWE mainstay Tyson Kidd has reportedly suffered a fractured knee and torn ACL and could be out of commission for up to a year.

The news comes from a report by PWInsider.com (via RingsideNews.com's Steve Carrier):

Tyson Kidd is expected to be out of action for 10-12 months according to a report by PWInsider.com.

Details are still slim on exactly when injury had occurred, but Kidd suffered a fractured knee and a torn ACL over the holiday house show loop.

UPDATE: Friday, Jan. 11 at 11:55 a.m. ET by Tim Daniels

Ben Kerin of WrestlingNewsSource.com passes along the latest update on Kidd's status. As of now, it sounds like Kidd should be able to return sooner than the original reports speculated, but he's still going to be out for an extended period of time.

Last night we reported WWE star Tyson Kidd would be out of action for up to one year. The latest reports indicate that Kidd is suffering from a torn MCL in his right knee.

He had a large amount of blood drained from the knee on Tuesday. WWE officials are expecting him to be out of action for around six months.

---End of update---

Kidd isn't exactly a top superstar in Vince McMahon's business, but this is a major loss for the WWE world, nonetheless.

Most recently, the 32-year-old has teamed up with Justin Gabriel to form International Airstrike. The duo has been a major part in helping resurrect the tag team division, and there's no question that it will be sorely missed for the next year.

Kidd and Gabriel had yet to get a real major push (although it's worth noting that Kidd was a tag team champion as a part of The Hart Dynasty a few years back), but they continued to establish themselves as some of the business' most talented wrestlers capable of putting on an incredibly entertaining show.

Losing Kidd to such a serious injury is something no one wanted to see happen, as he had the ability to carry matches, no matter the magnitude.

It remains to be seen what this means for Gabriel, but it would certainly be intriguing to see WWE give him a push in the singles division now that he is without a partner.

Whatever happens, this is an awful development for Kidd, who is a talented workhorse with a unique combination of size, strength and athleticism inside the ring.

We are wishing him a speedy recovery from this injury that proves wrestling can be a truly dangerous sport.
