Worked Outburst Proves WWE Doesn't Know How to Use Brock Lesnar

When Brock Lesnar returned to WWE, it could have been the start of something new and different. Instead, he was turned into a guy with a bigger name who can't beat John Cena and things were made worse with the news that his backstage blowup was all a work by Vince McMahon.

According to Dave Meltzer of WrestlingObserver.com, McMahon staged the blowup for Lesnar as a way to justify putting Cena over to the WWE wrestlers because Lesnar is such a volatile personality.

In addition to that, the report also says that WWE's mentality is to use Lesnar to put other top stars over because "he is on a limited WWE schedule and likely won't be around after WrestleMania next year."

To recap: WWE is paying Lesnar a lot of money, but don't want him to get over because he is unstable, not a WWE guy anymore and is working a very limited schedule.

If all of those things are going through Vince McMahon's head right now, why hire Lesnar back in the first place?

The idea of paying Lesnar $5 million to bring him down to the level of WWE's top stars instead of making him look like the superstar and box-office draw that he proved to be in UFC is so completely idiotic that you seriously have to wonder why he was brought back.

Bryan Alvarez of Figure Four Online made a great point in his weekly newsletter when he said that WWE blew a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with Lesnar.

Tell me when in history WWE will ever again raid a former UFC heavyweight champion who also happens to have been the single biggest draw in pro-wrestling or mixed martial arts over the past four years, who also happens to have the look and presence of Brock Lesnar, and who also not only has a pro-wrestling background but was on his way before he left in the mid-2000s to being the best big man to ever step foot inside a wrestling ring...

This whole thing comes down to egos, as it usually does with Vince McMahon. Instead of doing what is in the best interest of business—in this case, having Lesnar be an unstoppable machine that no one can beat over the next 11 months—and making lots of money in the process, he wants to be able to tell people that a WWE guy beat a UFC guy.

In particular, McMahon wants to say that Cena beat Lesnar on television.

WWE has no idea what it is doing with Lesnar. It is trying to tell the world that this is a person—forget wrestler—who can't be trusted to do business because he will fly off the handle at the slightest moment, who can sabotage the company with his attitude.

It's too bad that McMahon doesn't know what to do with Lesnar or anyone else who comes back—look how silly they tried to make The Rock look prior to WrestleMania as a way to bring him down to Cena's level instead of elevating their own guy—because we will never really know how great this angle with Lesnar could have been.
