After Swagger took the pin in the duo’s WWE Tag-Team Championship Match, Ziggler walked out on Swagger, saying, “I’m Dolph Ziggler! I’m better than this!”
While anything can happen in the WWE, I think it’s safe to say that Ziggler and Swagger are indeed headed for a split and that both superstars will likely move on to singles stints.
The question is: Where does each guy go from there?
Well, it looks like Ziggler could be headed for a major feud with one of the WWE’s biggest stars.
From F4Wonline.com (via WrestleNewz.com):
Dolph Ziggler is expected to have program with Randy Orton now that Chris Jericho has been suspended.
This is great news for all involved, especially the fans.
It’s no secret that I’ve thought that Ziggler has needed to break out on his own for a while now, and the potential for a feud like this is exactly why I thought that.
No disrespect to Swagger (who I think is a great talent), but all Ziggler’s partnership with him has done is hold “The Showoff” back and prevent him from rising to the top of the WWE where he belongs.
Now that Ziggler’s poised to move on as a singles star, however, we’ll get to see some great rivalries and matches involving one of the WWE’s most talented wrestlers.
Rivalries like Orton vs. Ziggler.
Ziggler and Orton have had a number of TV matches over the last year or so, and not surprisingly, every single one of them has been really good, if not great.
Though they’ve never actually feuded, they’ve already developed some fantastic chemistry, and I truly believe that they could put on a series of matches that would rival what Orton did with Christian in 2011.
Orton and Ziggler are—at least in my view—two of the WWE’s top five performers right now, but with Jericho gone temporarily and the bad recent booking of Ziggler, neither has any major feud going on at the moment.
Thus, the stage is set for these two stars to give us what we’ve been begging to see for months: a great rivalry between two great performers that features great wrestling.
