Mini John Cena Segment Criticized Despite Performer’s Efforts
A comedic segment on last night’s RAW featuring a Mini John Cena impersonator unfortunately missed the mark with most fans and critics. The little version of Cena, played by Derek Peton—known from Big Little Brawlers and Micro Wrestling—put in a solid performance given the source material, but the segment was widely seen as awkward and one of the weakest comedic bits of the year. The segment, intended to provide humor during Dominic Mysterio’s promo, was regarded as forced and cringe-worthy by many viewers.
Despite the comedic intent, the sketch was widely panned on social media, highlighting the challenge WWE faces when using comedy to balance more serious storylines. Derek Peton’s efforts received some praise, showing professionalism and skill, but fans expressed hope that WWE will avoid similar segments that detract from storytelling in the future.
