Kota Ibushi Suffers Leg Injury During AEW Collision Taping

Kota Ibushi sustained a leg injury during the October 8 taping of AEW Collision's "Homecoming" episode. In a match against Josh Alexander of The Don Callis Family, a planned spot went awry, leading both men to fall from the top rope to the outside. While Alexander also took a hard fall, Ibushi appeared to suffer a more severe injury, being unable to continue the match and requiring a stretcher to leave the venue.

Contrary to initial reports suggesting a broken femur, Dave Meltzer clarified in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Ibushi likely broke his leg instead. Meltzer described the incident as a freak accident, emphasizing that anyone in Ibushi's position would have likely sustained a serious injury. He also noted that this was not a case of Ibushi's body failing him due to past injuries, but rather an unavoidable mishap during the match.

Following the taping, AEW President Tony Khan addressed the audience, leading a chant in support of Ibushi and reminding everyone of the inherent dangers in professional wrestling.
