AEW Star Kota Ibushi Stretchered Out During Collision Taping

AEW star Kota Ibushi suffered a concerning injury during the October 8 taping of AEW Collision at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. Ibushi was competing against Josh Alexander when he appeared to lose his footing on the top rope, causing his leg to give out and resulting in a fall to the outside. Unable to continue, the match concluded with Alexander winning by countout.

Following the incident, Ibushi was attended to by AEW's medical team and was eventually stretchered out of the arena. His longtime friend and fellow wrestler, Kenny Omega, rushed to the ring to fend off members of The Don Callis Family and assist Ibushi. The house lights were dimmed as medical personnel attended to Ibushi, who was then taken to an awaiting ambulance.

While the exact nature of the injury remains unconfirmed, early reports suggest the possibility of a broken femur. If confirmed, this would mark another significant setback for Ibushi, who has previously dealt with shoulder issues and severe ankle injuries.

Ibushi made his AEW return in June after a nearly two-year hiatus, aligning with Omega against The Don Callis Family. He had been in top physical condition, impressing fans with his performances. This recent injury casts uncertainty on his future in AEW and the trajectory of his storyline.

AEW President Tony Khan addressed the crowd post-incident, expressing gratitude for their understanding and reiterating the inherent risks involved in professional wrestling.
