Former WWE star Montel Vontavious Porter, aka MVP, has taken to his official Twitter account to dispute the reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Marc Middleton of Lords of Pain) that he may be headed to TNA soon.

Porter, who parted ways with WWE in December 2010, posted a tweet earlier today denying the stories:

He also gave an update on his current project, an upcoming TV show with Lionsgate:

While many fans would have no doubt loved to see the former United States champion in TNA, it may be better for everyone involved that it's apparently not happening.

If reports are anything to go by, America's No. 2 promotion is facing significant problems right now.

The company surprisingly cut various names from its roster yesterday, including Sam Shaw and Joey Ryan, with James Caldwell at PWTorch noting this was an attempt to save money.

More worryingly, Caldwell reported that TNA has been late in paying various wrestlers (anyone who followed the now-defunct ECW promotion in the '90s knows this is never a good sign). Dave Meltzer later confirmed both of these claims in the F4W Daily Update.

The company's on-screen product isn't exactly setting the world on fire, either. The dismal Aces & Eights angle has been going on seemingly forever, and the Bully Ray/Brooke Hogan soap opera stopped being entertaining a while ago. Creatively, TNA seems stuck.

At this point, the last thing the company needs to do is bring in yet another highly paid ex-WWE talent who will have little or no effect on ratings or pay-per-view buys.
